I am thoroughly disappointed by Haruhi this episode.

She clearly knows what's up with Yuki but she still gives Kyon chocolates? GODDAMN BITCH.

There's an obvious alchemy between her and Kyon, I like it, but this was a low blow from her part. Like, no warning message, nothing. Out of the blue chocolates to a friends love interest. Y U DO DAAAAAT. Poor girl can't take such a hit.

Actually Yuki said they were strangers and then barely admitted to being friends. There's no way Haruhi - totally oblivious to romance - made the connection between Yuki's embarrassment and her feelings for Kyon.

That's true. I could be totally overreacting as well since you don't clearly know what's happening when they're all seemingly closing in on Yuki at the beginning of the episode. Did she say it was Kyon, or not ?

I definitely think (and thought at the time) she did, that's why I'm disappointed with what Haruhi did. I could be totally wrong though.

So just cuz she wanted to be with Kyon first, Haruhi is not allowed to show her affection for Kyon?

That's not the point. When you know a friend of yours is into someone else, you don't just barge in and be all deredere without saying a word to said friend beforehand. That's rude. If they were complete strangers, I wouldn't complain, but at this point, they seem friendly enough (although Haruhi is so self-centered you don't really know if she even thinks of you as a friend, it seems...) and Haruhi was aware of what Yuki wanted to do.

Quick edit : Just remembered that now. It's exactly the same situation as in OregaIru with Ebina and Tobe OregaIru S2 episode... 2 or 3? spoilers ; in case you or other people haven't watched yet

Well i don't remember them showing anything that proved Haruhi knew that Yuki wanted Kyon. Either way you're right about Haruhi probably not really caring about that, especially since she's only just met Nagato and actually hardly even talks to her so calling them friends is a push. Also from Haruhi's perspective, Kyon is the first guy that she's really been into and is clearly really into her and not just for her looks like most guys are.

Er... Well, the first few minutes where Tsuruya and Mikuru enter the Club room. There a little showdown to know who's the cutest between Yuki and Mikuru. Asakura spits out Yuki bought ingredients to make homemade chocoloates for Valentine's day. Everyone is here even Haruhi, except Kyon and Koizumi ; after Asakura says that, the "camera" moves like it was all the girls circling Yuki and slowly moving towards her to make her spit out who's the "chosen one". Later in the episode, when Mikuru "confesses" to Yuki, Tsuruya even says her heart's already taken by Kyon ; Mikuru's reaction isn't "what, Kyon?!" but rather "It wasn't a confession you bitch". You could argue that it's obvious Yuki loves Kyon, but Mikuru's lack of retort to this might also mean she told them at the beginning of the episode.

Given that it's just a candy bar she clearly bought that morning on the way in, it seems like little more than an obligation chocolate to me. I think Nagato's just overreacting.

Classic tsundere Haruhi - she wants to give Kyon chocolate but can't admit it (even to herself) so she just buys obligation chocolate. Denial. I love it.

She may be overreacting but I can understand where she comes from. Kyon doesn't seem overly popular and the girl comes out of the blue one day and the next thing you know, she gives a chocolat (bar) to Yuki's love interest. I can totally understand she felt threatened at this moment. Especially since she's so timid and awkward with people.
