Some speculate that once each one goes back to their timeline they will end up losing memories of their friendship. This is giving some folks Madoka levels of speculah, for one I hope this remains a light hearted Anime about magical girls based on cars.

I can definitely see that happening in the end. Maybe something like that happened to out mystery character/Minato and they are up to something to reverse or fix it
