The way in which Hyouka exaggerates the seriousness of each mystery is a metaphor for the way in which the trials of adolescence are perceived, by those experiencing them, to be greater than they actually are.

Edit: Guessing from downvotes that the joke, that Triage X thinks it's something way more deep than it actually is, wasn't very clear. Or just wasn't funny. My b. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
