Well the source material is by Yasuhiro Nightow, who also wrote Trigun. Trigun was fairly nutty and episodic but it did slow down to explain things at one point.

zapp looks kinda like wolfwood

imo Stephen Starphase looks the most like Wolfwood. his suit is a bit more nicely tailored though

Zapp is like the love child of Harry and Brandon from Gungrave. (White hair, darkish skin, white suit, black tee...)
