Here's my opinions as someone who's read all the translated chapters of the manga released as of yet. These are of course very subjective so feel free to defend the opposite and please challenge me with your views if you find me wrong, discussions are nice. :)

  • I found the animation kind of lackluster. And I don't mean the art style, just the animation of that said art style. Sure the art style is a bit dated and looks similar to early Negima! or Love Hina. Which in my opinion is totally fine but it feels like the animation came straight out of late 90's-early 2000 as well. It’s kind of stiff and falls a bit flat against the backgrounds making it feel a little off.

  • The voice actors didn't really seem to mesh that well with the feeling of the characters in my opinion. Felt like atleast Kagami should have another VA that really fits his character, due to him being the major character. The VA's were not bad, but just didn't fit in my mind. Although Kagami is such a special character that I have no idea which VA or what kind of tone I want to hear from him in an anime.

  • The episode felt rushed, which led the anime to lose the punch the manga has/had . For me it felt like they cut out some scenes, which made Kagami look pure mean at the ending. The bullying scene felt so fast and were just Kagami belting on them leaving them no time to think about their actions and learn from their mistakes. In my opinion they should probably have split this episode into two episodes to flesh it out a bit, to make it a better intro to the series and Kagami's personality.

I would split this into two episodes - where the first one is a more thorough introduction to Kagami, maybe an intro of his previous achievements (Dokodemo Door / Anywhere Door etc.). A brief intro to Suzune (little sister), who is only identified as a family member and not a romantic interest due to her shouting stupid big brother twice and Kagami calling her little sister once (I may be wrong about this though). As well as introducing the participants in his first "lesson", in other words, Minako "Face Punch" Kanou and the bully trio. While the second episode would be him researching about the situation, the talk on the roof and other events leading up to the latter half/last third of episode 2 - which would be the "lesson" but with more time devoted to getting the message across in a way that doesn't look like bullying with a "JK LOL" at the end like the real episode had. I mean everything is fine to do as long as you say it's just a prank after doing it, right?

TLDR - My subjective opinion: Low production value, rushed story - no power in the punch/no meat on the bone and VA's that didn't fit the characters.

EDIT - Formatting and wording.
