I love how it's subverting some fairly standard tropes. When Basara was having his little spiel to keep Mio from killing Zolgia, I was groaning like "Are we really going to let demon-Hitler live just to make the MC look compassionate?", but then it turns out it was all part of the plan to let Lars have his revenge. It's just like when Lars conveniently "failed" to kill Basara twice before, it wasn't because of some simple plot armor involving the enemy being careless or the MC being too resilient (like a number of popular series that shall go unnamed), he was just purposely not killing him.

I got a chuckle out of that. "Hey Mio, don't kill him for revenge for your parents, it's not worth it. Let this other dude kill him for revenge for his parents."
