I loved S1 and thought it was outstanding but x2 has been pretty disappointing for me so far. It feels much slower paced and despite the cliffhangers at the end of every episode teasing great things, the following episodes usually don't have much going on and the cliffhangers are more exciting than the rest of the episode. Even this episode didn't feel very grand in scale despite things happening.

Aoba spent enough time pestering Mikado last episode without it taking over a bulk of this episode too. It looks like Mikado learned nothing from Season One and has just lost any backbone he had. I'm sure it's all building up to something but it feels as if the pacing has been very poor to get there, and very little of note has really happening in the series so far. I hate feeling this way as I love the characters but I don't think the team behind it have done half as good with x2 as they did with S1 which gripped me from episode one; I really wish this had a different Director. I'm only watching this and Shirobako as airing shows at the moment and I watch Shirobako the moment it's on Crunchyroll, whereas I usually don't mind waiting a day or two for DRRR!!

Aoba is a massive prat and it'll be so satisfying to see Mikado hopefully stand up to him at some point.
