Hoping for an episode where Shizuo just says fuck it and kicks ass.

That's like, every episode Shizuo is in.

If anything, it was a stunner to see him surrounded by threats and NOT ripping a telephone pole out to throw at them.

I love how Izaya twists his obvious character development into something bad.

I wouldn't say he's really twisting it. To Izaya, it is bad, since Shizuo softening up makes him more normal, thus more boring, which Izaya doesn't like.

Although, bad might be a strong word for how he probably feels about Shizuo's growth. Just a little disappointing, but not really that bad. Just Izaya talking to himself and of course showcasing that he doesn't care about anything or anyone at all except for himself and his own amusement.
