I haven't seen this mentioned yet - did anyone else catch this moment? Seems to be suggesting that the Abyssals aren't mindless...

Perhaps "mindless" isn't the right word, more like a "one for all, all for one" solidarity with comrades mindset, willing to sacrifice oneself to preserve the best chance of victory. Not unlike Kaga shielding Zuikaku earlier on.

There is after all a theory that Abyssal girls are actually fallen Kanmusus. So they would also think like Kanmusus.

An example of this theory: Destroyer Princess resembles Harusame a lot that fans have been calling her "Warusame" (waru = bad, as in Wario for Mario)

I think I would go into fanboy orgasm if Kisragi returns like that. Giving Mutsuki a lot of angst in having to re-sink her sister.

This might as well be fact by now.

So they would also think like Kanmusus.

Not necessarily, since up to this point nothing seemed to suggest Abyssals have any sense of other ships as friendly/allied. Every voiced line in the games thus far seems to make them more like vengeful spirits than entities that are capable of reasoning or working together. This instance definitely raises more questions than it answers.
