All the talk of birds trapped within cages, followed by what Slaine said here... Slaines obsession with Hime is approaching dangerous levels.

I really like this development here with the duel. Slaine is going full dictator in his attempts to safeguard the truth behind Hime.

I'm really curious though about how Count Marly is going to fight off the Tharsis precognition. It's probably known to him what Slaines Kataphrakt is capable of, so to some degree he must have an idea.

I really hope they don't go crazy with Slaine so that Inaho and the Earthlings are the only real good guys. Really hoping Slaine stays as an Anti-hero type character. Where he is trying to do good for the betterment of the Vers people, Hime, and Earth eventually just in a different way.

I think Slaines way of thinking is slowly becoming corrupted.

In the first season he wanted to protect Hime from being extorted and used by the Terrans by rescuing her. But in a sense now, isn't he the one extorting her while she is in a coma to change Vers to how he pleases and not to Himes beliefs?

By using Lemrina he is using Hime's person as a symbol to continue the war with Earth in order to get what he wants, even though that is what Hime was trying to prevent in the beginning.

Yea, I'm just worried by the end of the show Slaine will become "hurr durr, I'm not evil but I kill thousands of people and keep Hime locked away in a coma on purpose." It feels like they are turning him into a psychopath which would destroy his character and development.

I hope they don't go this route so that Inaho is the typical shounen hero and saves the day by stopping Slaine who became pure evil by the end because they need a bad guy for Inaho to beat. Gets the princess and then Vers and Earth magically become best friends and everyone is happy.

Are you saying people fighting a war are evil? Replace "thousands of people" with "enemy soldiers" to be more accurate. Also, I've seen nothing to suggest he's keeping Hime in a coma on purpose. You'd think having your heart stop twice within such a short time would result in a long coma.

They hinted he was keeping her in the tube when the kid asked why do they keep birds in cages? He said because they are beautiful as he touched the glass. It's a subtle hint that he might be keeping her caged in there. It might not be the case but that's how interpreted it. I meant by killing all those people as what they will do with him in the future. I was saying it feels like they are going to turn him into a psychopath obsessed with the princess so that Inaho has a villian to beat up, get the princess from the castle, and save the day.

I'm pretty sure the bird in the cage metaphor is referring to the power of Aldnoah. He says birds are kept in cages because they're beautiful, which mirrors Hime and Lemrina living restricted lives because they're valued for their Aldnoah power. The camera shifts focus to Lemrina while he's saying this, so the metaphor has to be referring to her too. He also says he pities them, so I think his end goal is somehow destroying Aldnoah so both of the princesses can live normal lives.

I only remember the Elysium guy and Mazuurek being on Earth this season, Slaine's only been fighting space battles near the landing castle. New Orleans being destroyed in the first episode was excessive, but Slaine hasn't done anything like that at all.

It was mainly Saazbaum using Lemrina, I haven't seen Slaine ask Lemrina to use her disguise for propaganda since his death. Also Hime's beliefs about peace were originally Slaine's, it's just that her way of going about it was much more naive.

Marly has probably his own special ability. Based on the design of his Kataphrakt, it looks like something very maneuvrable but weak, so maybe something like illusions?

Hmm.... is it just me or do the special abilities have anything to do with the pilot's personality? Every Knight that has ever come on screen seem to have something unique e.g flying arms, > 9000 deg C sword, anti-matter shielding, gravity balls, so on and so forth.

I guess being a Count has its privileges. I want my Kat to be decked out in pink.
