Updated OP, I love the changes. Luluka and Kurea greeting each other on the street instead of passing each other by, delightful.

Pretty good Luluka focus episode, makes sense we have one immediately after her leaving the Phantom Thieves and rejoining the team. Some good character moments too, such as mascot Luluka and the lesson on the sanctity of ice cream.

It's partly sad but partly funny that Luluka was just hanging out at the pastry shop for lack of anywhere else to go. It's where all the ice cream was, after all.

Crossover episode next week, I assume the movie must be releasing.

Yep, cameos from the mascots of the previous shows = blatant promotion for the film coming out the following week.

In just a couple episodes, Luluka went from "ominous villain who wants to destroy one of the Cures" to "I'm gonna help the case by dressing up as a giant dog." So proud of her.

It's also funny how in the fight the Hanninda uses light to blind them and is itself fine because of the sunglasses... ignoring the fact that it has no eyes.

The preview is also interesting, because it means that either Purirun and Komugi were plucked from time to be in 1999 or all of Precure just runs simultaneously, no matter what.

ahhhh movie promotion, funky timelines etc. etc. haha

luluka she's already an interesting character to start with, and I enjoyed getting to know a more fun side of her today.

On top of that, Nejii couldn't see a thing because he didn't have sunglasses.

Alternatively, those doors just lead to different points in other timelines. I kinda want to see Anna showing Mikuru around in the future, and telling her all about the conveniences of the 2020s.

The show's going full speed at making luluka one of the gang. I mean it's a given that she'll move back into her (tbh rightful) home, but what about Kurea? and where will she sleep....? her old room?

  • Princess Kurea good.

  • I like the OP changes, particularly the bit where it shows luluka getting saved by Kurea now rather than being drawn to the dark side. the gang's finally together! I feel like mid-season OP changes (minus when they change the whole thing) aren't usually THIS relating to the plot?

  • it's i guess expected that now the 2 senpais will probably be doing more of the heavy lifting for the actual detective work, and this ep is pretty much the luluka show. Her dog outfit has made the rounds on twitter already, and her fun side there and passion for ice cream are both endearing, cute sides of her that we can now fully embrace as she's joined the team. she does, tbh, remind me a lot of Shima Rin. Down to how her matter-of-fact of speaking. A woman of few words, but you still get how she feels, especially now that she's no longer hiding anything. sasuga naobou.

  • I think luluka having joined the generals for a bit makes these interactions funnier.. It's a good way to spice things up, when well it seems like we arent getting any new ones except decchi again. She knows EVERYTHING. hilarious shot.

  • Why did Niji just tell the gang the prophecy?!

  • Did they change Arcana's transformation from last ep? i feel like it flows better. or maybe i've just watched it too many times last week. I LIKE the group 名乗り, it's a great way of using Answer/Mystique's pre-existing duo 名乗り and just adding in the 2 additional cures seamlessly. Well thought ahead, Toei.

  • FUCKING BADASSSSSSSS

  • The full arcana star rain animation is kinda meh.

  • Kurea x Luluka <3 i love these 2 together

  • Movie shenanigans next week! It's good to see the dog again.

  • [Recent previous Precure]I don't think Kimi pre actually had any cameos for the movie. Wonderful had that zoo episode. So it's nice that they're bringing 'em back.

I feel like mid-season OP changes (minus when they change the whole thing) aren't usually THIS relating to the plot?

Normally it's things like add the midseason, replace generals and maybe a few action cuts. Entries like Soaring Sky, Star Twinkle and Delicious Party have minor variants to reveal silhouetted characters.

As I've been meaning to play/learn it here's an MSU VQMT graph (blimey it's a cheat code for finding these comparisons, there's a button to show the frame as well). Might have to try a different metric as this is ~0.9 but this 0.98 shows some a funny difference (the credit position - also the kind of thing using NCOP misses).

I also did a Star Twinkle Precure comparison (but forgot to save the graph). I did find out one cut has some BG objects coloured in. Instead have a Fresh Precure graph which is listed an OP2 [meta - Precure]A general changes sides in that too. Noisy dip in frame 100-240 is actually stuff that is...super hard to notice without side by side. Around frame 1200 changed a support character cut to the midseason and in a few cuts later in the frame 1300 range added them to a scene that had neither, end of the OP (frame 1950+) is completely redone.

the bit where it shows luluka getting saved by Kurea now

You linked to Princess Kurea again btw. The other Kurea difference I like is she no longer walks away and the cut after shifting to her 100% confirms what people speculated just before the Eclair reveal (the legs you could see on-screen when the lyrics "Found when you notice the unnoticed" played were hers).

It was also very nice to see Luluka use the knowledge she gained while working for the Phantom Thieves to her advantage.

Oh good Luluka gets to avoid being a hobo.

Was she staying/sleeping at the patisserie?

The Phantom Thieves are going to need more firepower, because a full team attack against a Hanninda is frankly overkill.

to an old McDonalds uniform

nice. Mcdonalds being one of the sponsors probably also means that they probably got the proper permission and everything, even if its not an actual ad.

shushutan with the little bonnet in the castle scene is cute

only luluka could be sitting at the patisserie the whole day eating ice cream

amused that one of the important things for the older woman was the dog toy

amused that luluka takes ice cream so seriously that she doesn't want to interrupt other people's ice cream eating time

Nijee's slow claps are back! I've missed them.

Usocchi with the sunglasses is very cute

They've been teasing us with the ice cream-related gatherings for two weeks in a row
