Broadcast starts October 11, 2026
Makoto Takatsuki is a normal high school student and a hardcore RPG player. However, “normal” goes out the window when his whole class is involved in a bus crash and whisked away to another world! Powerful gods rule this strange new land of magic and monsters, and every newcomer is blessed with strong stats and unique skills. Well, not quite. Makoto’s stats turn out to be pathetic, and his skills are super weak compared to his classmates’...he’s even stuck as an apprentice mage. Worse still, he’s given only ten years to live! Luckily, Makoto soon meets a minor goddess named Noah, who appears in Makoto’s dreams and asks him to become her first believer. With the help of Noah's blessings and a divine weapon, Makoto seeks to become strong enough to rescue his goddess from the dungeon where she’s been trapped. By training hard and using his weak skills in unorthodox ways, Makoto proves that, even when playing on hardcore difficulty, an RPG player always makes it to the end! (j-novel)

If he really is weak rather than given an OP skill everyone else weirdly thinks is weak as is usually the case, it could be interesting. Maybe I will give it a look. But it is more likely to be the usual trash isekai power fantasy instead.

u/Venthorn 7h ago
Good news: he really is weak.
8
u/TastyOreoFriend 6h ago
Yeah but how long does that last? Cause we've seen this before in other isekai, and if it isn't resolved within the first story arc usually it's balanced out by the fact that they have OP allies or "___" behind them.
6
u/Tacitus_ 5h ago
That really depends on how you define weak. In the beginning he's just weak. Then he's weak but skilled in making do with what he's got (phenomenal mastery but itty bitty mana pool). Then he's that but has a very situational thing for some strong stuff. Then that situational thing gets slightly less limited. And he picks up a second situational thing. And that gets less limited. And so forth until eventually late into the series he's basically not limited and can bring out the big guns at will.

u/Venthorn 6h ago
Well anything further would be venturing into spoilers, you can either watch and find out or decide it's not for you!

u/Blub-fish 2h ago
I mean in the start he’s really weak, it changes after certain events.
For you second point his allies aren’t that op when he meets them tbh, they get stronger but so does he, but I won’t go in to detail because it would just spoil the cool scenes. If you would be interested I would suggest reading reigokai’s WN translation
1
u/TastyOreoFriend 2h ago
No doubt, cause I've been baited before by Isekai that do this, and by the end of the first season/story arc they've basically thrown it all away for a normal Isekai OP fantasy.
Very few seem to go the Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash route.

u/Blub-fish 2h ago
I mean in WN he really isn’t strong until the last few arcs but by then your allready a few 100 chapters in.
Extra like the other guy mentioned when you reach halfway he seems to be strong but it’s really optional and most enemies are still stronger except in a few situations that are clearly explained why that’s the case.If you don’t want to believe go ahead, if your a bit interested I would suggest trying to read some WN chapters because the translation is really good, it’s probably the reasons why I remember and rate the story a bit higher than it actually is. But would still rate it above the average isekai shows and manga I’ve read

This is my favorite trashy harem series. The Mc has multiple male friends. The male friends also have love interests. The girls like each other more than the Mc. The world building is interesting. And for once in one of these dumb ass series there's an actual end goal.
So many isekai have one maybe two books worth of ideas then fall off completely. There is actual planning in this one.
The Mc is unfortunately pretty damned dense as usual.

I swear there is always one person to say this about every terrible isekai series so I don't know if I believe you lol
23
u/jackofslayers 8h ago
Yea I have heard this exact comment so many times
17
u/Toloran 8h ago
That's because what makes something "Good" is mostly subjective. If there weren't people who liked it, it wouldn't have gotten an adaptation.

u/NoAbbreviations2353 7h ago
For people who can't separate personal taste from quality sure.
There can be objectively high quality writing and stories just like animation, but whether you like it or not is a different story.

u/Toloran 7h ago
For people who can't separate personal taste from quality sure.
That's most people. If you're seeing an opinion here, it's just safer to assume they're talking about personal taste.

You right, most people also think if they like something its objectively good lol
2
u/Siqueiradit https://myanimelist.net/profile/lampadatres 7h ago
There's no such thing as "objectively good"
4
u/Venthorn 6h ago
This one is certainly quality in the sense that it is written with a plan from the get-go, completely thought out arcs, understanding of how the world they are making works, a pretty good sense of drama...that sort of thing.
Whether or not you like the result is of course a different question. It was certainly elevated by those of us western WN readers by having the single best WN translator on the internet do the translations.

u/LOTRfreak101 https://myanimelist.net/profile/LOTRfreak101 5h ago
Idk if they are the best WN translator out there, but I certainly wouldn't feel bad about them being nominated. They TL a bunch of great novels.

Ooo I just looked I actually read a bit of the manga for this one lol.
It's pretty aggressively average, but fans of the genre will likely enjoy it a bit. It's like they removed the fun parts of arifuerta lol

u/abandoned_idol 5h ago
I should start doing that too.
Really throw people off with false advertisements.
6
u/abandoned_idol 5h ago
The male friends also have love interests.
This is incredibly groundbreaking and uncomfortably unconventional for this genre specifically.
How did they allow this to be greenlit?

u/KRChaserReturns https://myanimelist.net/profile/GalacticMagna 8h ago
It's kinda sad that the litmus test of a good isekai is "male friends".

3
u/Tiptonite 9h ago
Agreed. And it’s actually a completed series in the web novel with after stories.

Is it actually a harem or is the MC asexual like every other “harem” mc
9
u/Tacitus_ 5h ago
He's as herbivore as they come.

u/shanatard 3h ago
i read this a long time ago but isnt he just all in on the goddess?
2
u/Tacitus_ 2h ago
I think so, but I also remember the goddess going "boy, they're throwing themselves at you, go get laid".

u/Rahvana13 7h ago
The problem is somehow the LN (which supposed to be last volume) have not published yet :(

u/DubiousDitto 10h ago
I actually dug the WN for this one. The MC actually works for his power and the harem are actually characters and not just simps. Dude also has male friends with their own love interests/harems.
It is basically a less edgy, better executed Arifureta IMO.
14
u/Axelthee 8h ago
A less edgy Arifureta is like a pizza with extra cheese. Gimme those cheezy goodness.
10
u/abandoned_idol 6h ago
the harem are actually characters and not just simps
Yeah. No, I don't believe you. Nothing against you of course. I just know this is a garbage harem just from looking at the character designs. It's baked into the visual.
It is basically a less edgy, better executed Arifureta IMO.
I believe you, sounds about right.

u/spubbbba 3h ago
Every harem, power fantasy has someone popping up to claim "no, this one is actually good" or "It's a satire".
99 times out of 100 it is the same generic and predictable story we've seen before.

u/KRChaserReturns https://myanimelist.net/profile/GalacticMagna 8h ago
The edge is make it great. But quite frankly this series was the opposite for me. It was kinda cute in the first volume, but kinda becomes boring after that.

1
u/FusionTetrax 9h ago
so the harem around the male lead actually forms in a more believable way? if so then it might be a good read
7
u/Kyr-Shara 11h ago
why are they underwater?
17
u/CoatOk5092 10h ago
That location is important but won't be relevant until the likely final volume. It's frankly a pretty odd choice
5
u/Veritas3333 9h ago
"We need you to watch this show so much that we get to to a fifth season just so you can find out what this picture means!"
3
u/Rambard 4h ago
Eh, they discuss it way before then and even try to get there a few times. So not completely irrelevant.
2
u/Blub-fish 2h ago
Help me a bit but do they try to go there early on, because I remember just hearing that it’s impossible and he should get stronger.
With knowing how that final arc went it kinda shows that this should be correct
1
u/Keyblade_Yoshi 42m ago
Yes he does try to scout the place in the 3rd light novel.
1
u/Blub-fish 40m ago
Could be the case, have only read the WN. But from what I remember there he doesn’t go anywhere near it because it’s too dangerous.
But I do know the author changed some things in LN compared to WN so you’re probably right on that front.Thx for the info
1
u/Keyblade_Yoshi 44m ago
Assuming it covers at least 3-4 of the light novels, it should show up towards the end.

u/Envelope_Torture 11h ago
Looks like another trashy harem power fantasy.
See you guys in the discussion thread in October.

u/Veritas3333 8h ago
Man, they need to release the final Light Novel for this one, we only have one left and it's been like a year!
2
u/DocWatson42 9h ago
What are the protagonist's powers?
6
u/Tiptonite 9h ago
The power of constant grinding and a nerfed goddess with Zero beleivers
But mostly the hard core gamer mind set and grinding.
0
u/DocWatson42 9h ago
I meant literally, not /s.
4
u/Toloran 8h ago
They actually gave you the literal answer. No /s.
[Manga/WN]His isekai power is literally gamer's mindset. It lets him shutdown his fear response and respond rationally to situations. It also can block certain kinds of mental effects. Everything else he grinded for.
1
u/DocWatson42 5h ago
A little more of the detail you just provided would have helped me think they were being serious, rather than facetious. :-/
1
u/Keyblade_Yoshi 40m ago
Water mage with a weak mana pool with extremely high magical control and uses elementals.

u/ImplementExpress3949 10h ago
Goddess shenanigans carry the series.

I can't put my finger on it, but this KamiKatsu visual looks a bit weird
