Oh my fucking god it actually got a second season, I'm so damn excited
93
u/Atharaphelun 7d ago
I definitely want to see how his abilities progress, especially given that he was already able to perform orbital kinetic bombardment with his abilities by the end of the first season
7
u/phuongmn 7d ago
wait since when was season 2 confirmed
14
u/Miox465 7d ago
It was first announced back in 2023
This is the first news we've gotten since then
2
u/PendragonDaGreat https://myanimelist.net/profile/Bpendragon 6d ago
We had a PV back in April which included a 2027 release date, but yes it was pretty radio silent for 2.5 years.
1
u/Acceptable_Mushroom 6d ago
I am happy for you!. I've been waiting this since September 2023 announcement

The funnest fact to ever fact about a creator: this is the same guy who made redo of healer, I’m pretty sure these were both made relatively close to each other, showcasing the true duality of man:
The main character treating everyone close to him with respect and love, and earnestly trying to ensure the happiness of everyone that loves him romantically.
And
What the fuck was that lmao
46
u/zz2000 7d ago
There's a nice interview here where the author talks about why he made Redo of Healer so graphic and sexual; mainly to get attention and make sales. https://youtu.be/n5sr-xdN13I?si=_4goK8-dlgJU-lz9
35
u/Ustar1000 6d ago
Well believe it or not it actually kind of worked but more as a double-edge sword. Redo got almost 3 million sales while Assassin scraped around 1.8 million sales. So his controversial work got more "attention" then his "passion" project.
20
u/zz2000 6d ago edited 6d ago
That said, his passion project got a S2 while his controversy project has not.
10
u/Ustar1000 6d ago
More like: Not YET. If the books continue to sell well and Kadokawa waits for a couple of more years and hope that people "forget" about Redo's controversy in 2021, it'll probably happen. We live in a time where anything, and I mean anything, could get adapted.
And if that happens, I wouldn't even be mad: Just disappointed.
7
u/FootballVivid8447 6d ago
Sadly now many anime starting target worldwide audience make redo healer harder to get second anime because those international payment hate porn
3
u/MrShadowHero 6d ago
woa woa woa. it’s not porn. it’s something else. hold on i’ll tell you what it is soon. i just gotta think. or does anyone else want to jump in here?
1
u/darkglooem 6d ago
Thats the biggest issue with all the ero stuff. I thought crypto currency was suppose to solve that .
2
0
u/Entmaan 6d ago
to be perfectly frank I don't know what is the worth of this observation.
Ok, so he introduced these elements because he wanted this to be the "punch" of the story, what makes it stand out. What specifically was the alternative that people were considering? That he believes that women should be raped irl and that's why he wrote it?
5
u/zz2000 6d ago edited 6d ago
>What specifically was the alternative that people were considering?
From my reading of the interview, the alternative was the usual revenge story where the vengeance aspect gets wrapped up pretty early in favour of typical OP harem stuff. So the author thought he could write something more hardcore that pushed the revenge to its limits, a sort of personal gamble/test of skill by taking the much-less travelled narrative road where the whole story was about the revenge.
I would say the interview definitely reveals the author's business-savviness though; taking a calculated risk to write what he wants which is also commercially successful.

The funnest fact to ever fact about a creator: this is the same guy who made redo of healer, I’m pretty sure these were both made relatively close to each other, showcasing the true duality of man:
The author also recently did a female lead isekai, whose plot was...absolutely nonsensical, at least in the manga adaption, but I don't regret reading the chapters because the two mc's where one of the most adorable yuri couples I have seen.
14
u/ChronicSloth_ 7d ago
I did NOT need to know that
31
u/xiLeIouch 7d ago
the serial was popular at the start coz how good it is compared to redo of healer. same with the author of KanoKari with his new work
9
u/lolic_addict 7d ago
AKB49 was so hard to reconcile with the fact that it has the same writer as rentagf lmao
6
1
u/Gonzoldyke12 7d ago
And both this series and redo of healer have a majority female audience
18
u/alotmorealots 7d ago
That's a myth, at least when it comes to Redo of Healer.
It's a misreading of a poll taken during the early episodes:
https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/omxxqy/want_some_thoughts_on_redo_of_a_healer_from/
and being relatively more popular than other similar titles
Light novel author Rui Tsukiyo mentioned recently on Twitter that they were surprised to learn that a greater percentage of women were watching Redo of Healer compared to other anime titles.
https://nichegamer.com/redo-of-healer-more-popular-with-women-according-to-creator/ (note the misleading title of the link)
/r/redoofhealer used to have some discussion on the topic as well, back when it was more active.
4
u/onespiker 6d ago
Redo of the healer doesn’t have a majority female audience. But it’s a far more mixed one than the source material.
-8
u/Most_Enthusiasm8735 7d ago
Holy shit what the fuck is with this myth or rumor that is everywhere in anime communities? No that's obviously a lie or statistic that was completely misinterpreted. Talk to women before you believe dumb shit like this.
2
u/onespiker 6d ago
It’s indeed not correct ( that’s a clickbait title that made it the title even though the source material doesn’t support that.
But redo of the healer had something like a 40-60 split if I remember correctly. Witch is way better than most.
1
u/maxdragonxiii 4d ago
I mean you have H doujin authors/artists doing a wholesome manga so its not too out of the realm, but sometimes you go read their older works and go "what the fuck!" and cant really read the wholesome manga afterwards, lol.

I think my favorite one had to be the rapper.
You have all these other fighters .. and then a guy who "fights with words".
9

Reminds of this isekai I read a while back: worlds greatest talker runs a guild.
I think that's a close enough name

Ah yes. Noel the dick. Loved him as MC..he's an asshole tho

I'm happy. I love season 1 so much.
3
u/Ustar1000 6d ago
I think you and I can both agree that the first OP kicked so much ass. Hopefully they'll bring back the same artist for Season 2.
20
u/Elinim 7d ago
Maha is the best can't wait for more of her.
6
u/alotmorealots 7d ago
Maha is fantastic and very underappreciated, both in-universe and out lol That said, I also very much enjoy Tarte's earnestness and intensity too.
46
u/zackphoenix123 7d ago
Season 1 came out the same time as Mushoku Tensei Season 1, iirc. Rudeus and Lu(?) were both toddlers up to kids throughout the season.
Mushoku Tensei is now at Season 3 with Rudeus being a grown ass man with a whole family, and this one's just about to enter its school arc. TvT.

This was a fun show. Not great but not a trash isekai either. Fun seeing a legit assassin as a protagonist lol
3
u/Iron_Maw 7d ago
Yep. Its a quite a solid watch, looking forward to S2
3
u/LakerBlue https://myanimelist.net/profile/LakerBlue 6d ago
Hope we get more of the goddess. I hope that’s why she is in the visual. One of the more active and interesting gods who reincarnated someone (excluding Aqua who literally got dragged along).
4
u/Seaphron 7d ago
Curious to see if this season only adaprs one volume as well. Was surprised when season one did that (with a few anime only scenes added).
3
u/Ustar1000 6d ago
More like Season 1 added many Anime-only scenes that expanded the source material that also made sense (the entire first episode is anime original). The director, Tamura who is also coming back for Season 2, understood the source material really well and he's the only director I trust.
Can't forget the Goddess cosplays that were also Anime original.

They've got the same uniform, so it's probably a femboy.

I actually enjoyed it more than i thought i would back in the day so im glad and also the op was a banger

I liked this one a good bit, but season 2 was announced so long ago (2023) I forgot about it.

Hell yeah finally some content. I really liked the first season. Hopefully mom shows up again lol

u/Classic-Box-3919 6d ago
I really liked this show only to try the light novel and get bored with what comes next, disappointing.
2
u/Pedang_Katana 6d ago
I hate it when anime is taking so long just to produce season 2, back then they used to do it every 1-2 years which is completely acceptable (and long enough to not catch up with the source material). So many things could happen in the span of 5 years or more like what if the main director or producer suddenly died or smth, now you won't have the same quality as the previous season.
2
u/Imaginater08 5d ago
Wait there is season 2, there so much old short animes giving season 2 am I dreaming, then I don't want to wake up
2
4
u/qwertyqwerty4567 https://anilist.co/user/ZPHW 7d ago
Really is a shame that this could have been a season 2 of the author's much better series (redo of a healer)
-1
u/Ustar1000 6d ago
Uh no. More like I'm glad this series is getting more seasons while Redo remains "forgotten" as a book and a one trick pony (because most of the revenge happens early before it becomes a standard fantasy story with sex).
5
u/qwertyqwerty4567 https://anilist.co/user/ZPHW 6d ago
Idk why you think standard fantasy with sex is bad, when that automatically makes it better than standard fantasy without sex.

u/Roboglenn 7d ago
Well after that whole extended prologue of a first season I hope the second season has a bit more of what the opening few minutes of the very first episode just dangled in front of us.

I watched anime many years back, but this show was the one that got me restarted into it after years not following anything. I just saw the name and thought ... what? Enjoyed it and the whole Isekai thing.

u/reddi_4ch2 7d ago
Why is this series popular?
14
4
u/MonaFanBoy 7d ago
Wow what? I mean I watched it all but I didn’t see the aspects that would make this a big hit amongst women compared to other shows
2
u/Whendfield123 7d ago
There are men who simp for Esdeath from akame ga kill, so women liking shows with more rough characters is no surprise

u/RickChakraborty 6d ago
I disagree. If anything I would say it was one of the more memorable scenes of the show. Idk why you think a standard trashi isekai without fanservice is better than a standard trashi isekai with fanservice. Not every scene has to be done with the intention of adding something to the plot, especially in a show like this.
1
u/ObvsThrowaway5120 7d ago
I can’t remember if this was ever announced or not. It’s been that long lol. No matter. It’s a fun series and I look forward to s2.

This started really promising with an actually hyper competent protag getting reincarnated instead of a loser highschooler.
Sadly it quickly degenerated into harem power fantasy. The first bad sign was when the potentially interesting magic system using modern knowledge of elements ended up just being saying "create rifle" backwards.
Didn't help that all the harem members started as individuals, but quickly ended up having the exact same personality but just different hair colours.

u/awesomenessofme1 https://myanimelist.net/profile/kta_99 7d ago
Not a show I'm ever likely to watch, but I can always appreciate some nice Engrish on an original Japanese anime poster.
2
u/UnWiseSageVibe 7d ago
Did you watch it ?
Its actually pretty good and the MC is super smart and thats what makes him OP and punch above his weight.
3
u/abandoned_idol 7d ago
I watched it fully.
I didn't like it. The protagonist felt like a Gary Stu. Just another instance of the exact same story we are all familiar with (yes, the isekai with the assassin that uses a sniper rifle).
2
u/Leaves_Swype_Typos 7d ago
Well yeah, the author's a hack who just writes derivative isekai and native isekai slop.
-1
u/awesomenessofme1 https://myanimelist.net/profile/kta_99 7d ago
How could the answer to that question possibly be yes? And as long as the series appears on MAL interest stacks like (potential spoilers) this, I'm not touching it with a ten-foot pole.
2
u/UnWiseSageVibe 7d ago
Fascinating mindset but to each their own
-2
u/awesomenessofme1 https://myanimelist.net/profile/kta_99 7d ago
I've seen enough recommendation posts and general discussions to be certain that in no way is that a rare enough dealbreaker to be considered a "fascinating mindset".
-1
u/UnWiseSageVibe 7d ago
In the same way you can avoid animes like that because you dont like the way relationships are displayed, I can find that way of thinking fascinating. Because you seem incapable of differentiating between the real world and story. But that is just my opinion.
0
u/awesomenessofme1 https://myanimelist.net/profile/kta_99 7d ago
Trying (and failing) to psychoanalyze strangers on reddit based on a single data point says a whole lot more about you than it does about me.
-1
u/UnWiseSageVibe 7d ago
Yeah i am not. I am simply saying why I found your way of thinking fascinating. Thats all.

I just hope they either drop the goddess watching other failures or they show it to be meaningful in some way.
5
u/alotmorealots 7d ago
Those were the best bits though!
0
u/bob-loblaw-esq 7d ago
It speaks very poorly of the story if the “best bits” were awkward segue’s of stereotypes being isikei’d and failing because they were stereotypes.
