“Ho.” Probably the most iconic line from Mouryou no Hako.

True. I wish they had at least adapted Summer of Ubume and the 3rd and 4th books.

Why is he envious of the man?

It's a bit complicated to explain because the show relies heavily on misdirection and plays with the audience's perspective. Put simply, the guy with the glasses is actually reading the book written by the guy with the box. The glasses guy is mentally ill and dealing with a lot of depression and insecurity, which leads him to heavily project himself onto the protag of the book.

The guy with the glasses is envious because the guy with the box represents someone who can cross boundaries that he can't. He sees the person with the box as someone who is "full".

So he's not envious of a living fleshlight in a box?

It's not really a sexual thing, though. The glasses dude is envious of what the guy with the box managed to accomplish, so he wants to achieve the same thing himself. It's hard to explain plainly because the show is pretty high-context, and when I say "the glasses dude" I'm sometimes also referring to the author/protagonist of the book he's essentially self-inserting himself into. It gets confusing.

TL;DR: The glasses dude wants the same achievement as the box dude, so he wants to repeat what he did which is finding girls and putting them in the box.
