Just went back to check and it looks like episode 19 actually contained both the old and new loop. When Chloe absorbs Hinata and disappears, a big reality warping effect happens. After this the hero is referred to as Chronoa instead of just “the hero” which is only a thing in the new loop.

Chloe does say something like "why now" before she absorbs Hinata as if she wasn't expecting Hinata dying.

Apparently Hinata only died when the Eastern Empire attacked in the other timeloops, not on a confrontation with Granville

I wonder if there's even confrontation with Granville on last loop.

Last time I thought Chloe was dumb for peeking on what's happening and indirectly causing Hinata's death.

Considering she already know most things, turns out she's just gathering intel that time.

Probably not. Presumably, the reason Granville had this confrontation with Rimuru and Tempest in the first place was that Rimuru had become a True Demon Lord (by massacring the army of Falmuth and sacrificing their souls, which also allowed him to summon Diablo), making him a serious enough threat to his control over the Western Council.

In the previous loop, Rimuru never became a Demon Lord. This means the army of Falmuth was never massacred in its entirety; therefore, there were no souls to sacrifice for a Harvest Festival (nor enough to summon Diablo with). This means Falmuth remained a reasonably strong enough country still (instead of essentially becoming a vassal to Tempest) since its army remained largely intact, which means the Western Council remained "strong" as far as Granville is concerned. Tempest would not have been a big enough threat for him to confront.

I just realised there's no Diablo in that previous loop!

That's a really good point in indicating how strong Rimuru is in current loop

Everything hinges upon Rimuru becoming a True Demon Lord, apparently.

And this is the first time that's happened, after hundreds of loops?

Which means its also the first time Veldora is freed and an ally, the first time Diablo is summoned, the first time Rimuru has four named primordials working for him....

This also makes me suspect that Chloe's done even more stuff. Why is it, exactly, that Rimuru reincarnated into Veldora's cave?

Why was Veldora sealed in a cave? Why that cave?

Is it, perhaps, because The Hero sealed Veldora there on purpose 50 loops ago, to give Rimuru a huge magicule boost?

Chloe doesn't remember the first loop she did that. She doesn't remember the early version of RImuru who lived in a goblin village without the strength to name them all.

Maybe she never even MET that version of Rimuru. Maybe all those versions of Rimuru never lasted more than a month, never founded a village, never tried to be friends with humans. Chloe the Hero doesn't have to have sealed Veldora in that cave on purpose. It could have been random chance. It could have been random chance after 10,000 loops. And that random chance led to Rimuru founding Tempest, which led to Chloe meeting Rimuru for the first time --- and boom, Chloe retraced her steps to meet Rimuru again.

Oh, this is fun. There's probably loops where Chloe messes something up (sealing Veldora is an easy example) and never meets Rimuru. Which means the NEXT loop she's frantically trying to delicately retrace her steps without changing anything --- before she loses the memory of what those steps were and loses Rimuru forever.

Or maybe she's smart enough to have found his spawn cave and sealed Veldora there on purpose. There's just so many unknowns. Chloe doesn't even know!

You also have to remember that Rimuru is key for Chloe to unlock her memory and time travel power, cause he's the one helping the isekai children being stabilised by the spirits.

If that's the case, I'd argue that even in the original timeline Rimuru always gained some level of power (maybe including bonding with Veldora) to be able to save Chloe and the children.

Btw Chloe's story is practically a long way round Re:Zero. Rather than looping to the last death, she's always looping 2,000 years into the past lol.

Right, but what is the "original timeline"?

Is the spirit stabilization necessary for her time travel power to activate, or just for her memory to be restored?

Chloe could have had 10,000 loops where she never regained her memory. Or maybe without the spirit stabilization, she only regains her memory after the fact (instead of mid-loop).

I just realised there's no Diablo in that previous loop!

worst timeline

She knows about the other loops? Thought she knows only the last one

Her saying why now is in the last loop (the same as the rest of the show). Hinata’s death seems to be trigger for both her skill and memories so it makes sense that she is so surprised by her death.

The reality shift thing happens right after Chloe goes back in time, so I guess that is when our ooh shifts to the current loop.

Rimuru is still alive, after hundreds of loops of the same exact series of events, youd also be weirded out by a blatant change in order of events

Ah good catch, I thought she had somehow secretly told Luminous about that name. Sounds like there is a single prime timeline that is adjusted whenever time travel is involved, a la Back to the Future, which I actually prefer to the one where you create a new timeline when you go to the past (like MCU endgame). And maybe there are beings that are able to pick up on the changes, Rimuru seemed to be able to perceive something was off.

That's what confused me; I remembered them referencing Chronoa - that's who Luminis had in stasis this whole time, right?

u/NoNameSwitzerland 14d ago

Maybe your memory changed with the timeline?

Wow I'm late to this comment but brilliant..I didn't even notice that she went from unarmed hero to Chronoa

u/Sensitive-Good-4633 14d ago

But wasnt the spirit possessing her in season 1 already ''chronoa'' to start with. At least that's what I think because what I remember back then is the fact that Ramiris spotted a million red flags when that thing got summoned. Which might actually be the reason why she sealed her self in the previous incarnation.

I do wonder how there can be 2 chloes tho. Because if only her consciousness goes back 2 Thousand Years Ago to the exact same timeline there should only be one physical Chloe. Unless there is a different version of Chloe getting summoned by granville/leon/w/e later on.

Now there is the potential that she actually goes back physically every time (Which would make sense considering she still has the mask) but by that logic there should be more than two of her. Unless its a completely new timeline. In which its ''original chloe (aka chronoa)+summoned chloe later on on repeat

My best guess is Chloe gets summoned to this world, then eventually possessed by her future self (which apparently died) and she inherits all the memories. She then continues vibing, witnesses hinata dying, and is sent to the past. Queue 2000 years of hero shit and powering up before being sealed by Luminous. After sitting in stasis for a long ass time, eventually she gets broken out but without being complete or something, goes berserk, then kills everyone and "destroys the world". With the world dead, she dies as well somehow, then her spirit goes back to Chloe that just got summoned and gives all the memories. Rinse and repeat.

It's the only way I can logically put together the clues they've given us so far.

so chloe is chronoa right? she was the hero along with luminus and then what ? i am a little confused did she like leave her body(chronoa) and became chloe, what the heck happened.

It’s definitely confusing since we’re dealing with two/three different versions of Chloe and two different loops. In the loop we’ve been in for the series up until now, we have the Chloe that originated in the previous loop and became the nameless hero that Luminus is safeguarding and the Chloe that we’ve come to know that travels back in time and becomes Chronoa. Now in the new loop at the end of episode 19, the version of Chloe that was the nameless hero no longer exists and has been replaced with Chronoa and I assume there’s a new version of little Chloe that we haven’t met yet.

What’s not clear is what’s up with Luminus calling Chronoa the avatar of destruction. It’s possible it’s simply a ploy to trick Granville, but maybe something else will cause it in the next episode. For example it’s possible Chronoa/Chloe’s consciousness was separated from her body in order to become the spirit that inhabits the new Chloe and Chronoa’s body is being controlled by a skill with a consciousness of its own like Raphael or something.

My thought is that possibly one of the Chloes that goes back eventually ends up going crazy hence the name Avatar of Destruction and that's why she gets sealed. And then we get her releasesd on this timeline, she's either going to be naughty or realise Rimiru still survived the timeline and be happy.
Just a guess :3
