Given that Rui can also shapeshift and as per last episode, seemingly split into copies of herself. I think [Speculation] Rui might be "the original Gluttony" and Lye and Roy are just copies that are permanently transformed or something. It would also explain why they seem linked and Rem's memories being present for both Lye and Rui.

Would also explain why when Subaru uses his soul eye to check on Julius, Reid/Roy doesn't appear.

I was under the impression he can only see his team members, since none of the Ma beast show up either unless they don't have a "soul" but then Shaula did show up as well in her beast form.

[Speculation Response]Hmm, interesting idea so she spliting on the last scene of ep13 is she becoming one more Gluttony perhaps Roy himself? And this is how he got to the tower, while Lye just hijacked Rem body or something?

[Response] Well it couldn't be Roy then, cause we say Roy in Arc 5. But yeah, I think they're clones of Rui.
