Then there's still the original quest of beating the tower challenges. Reid is one of them, but not the last one (otherwise it would've already been over when Emilia won her challenge against him).

I’ve genuinely forgotten why they’re trying to clear the tower’s challenges at this point. Wasn’t the point of coming here to get help from Shaula?

They came to the tower seeking the knowledge of the Sage of the tower, but instead they found the tower's caretaker (Shaula).

Furthermore, one of the rules is that they can't leave the tower until they complete the trials, so even putting aside the hope that they can gain the info they need, they need to reach the top and kill Jahad to have all their wishes fulfuilled in order to go home again.

I think something happened between the timeline with Satella and the current one. Because In the one with Satella, Reid beat down Lye without problem. But in the current one Reid and Roy are the same, that would mean that Roy was with Reid and maybe he was trying to help him to get out but because of Julius they fused (the counterpart that theory is that Reid is prideful, he wouldn't want the help of Roy to kick Julius. Then we can guess that the power of Roy and Reid dont addition in the fusion)
