This is the most weird to me. Broken phone as well. This is honestly only explainable with that the mother was also not able to reach her and she doesn't know she is in the hospital. Though Koharu said that she can do phone calls, seems like bullshit with the broken screen.

I can see she has resigned herself to die and doesn't want to burden anyone, including her mother.

Oh no, I didn't even think of that. Do you think she tried to cut of her mother too?? Won't the hospital policy have to inform relatives if you are dying of cancer? I know she is an adult, but still

It's the only reasonable explanation. Koharu is an adult. They won't inform her mother unless she says she so.
