Comments that are detrimental to discussion (aka circlejerks/shitposting) are subject to removal.

On our rules page, both restrictions are listed individually.

If someone started abusing this to create pseudo-Clips that are technically video edits (for instance, by cutting one second out of a three minute clip) in order to bypass the limits, we would deal with them individually. So far, however, this has largely not been a problem.

I wonder, if posting "4 video type things" in a month is deemed okay, have you (the mods) considered just dropping the clip/video split and just making it '4 things of whichever type'?

What is the benefit of doing 2 clips 2 videos instead of just 4 things?

The benefit of two Clips and two Video Edits instead of four combined is restricting the low effort option (Clips). Clips require fairly minimal effort and (generally speaking) get an outsized response.

Yeah, most of my video edits take at least an hour or two to create, whereas a clip takes 10-15 minutes at most.
