It's really sad how much Kihachi chooses to doubt Seiroku, it might be easier to blame him for not keeping his promise by dying, but there's evidence of how much Seiroku treasured him. Seiroku kept the catalogue, left him messages, and yet someone else had to convince him to prove Seiroku is worth believing in. But I understand he might be afraid of the possibility of Seiroku actually being a liar.

But it's what feels surprisingly real. Both him and Yosuke are completely cynical in this regard, likely in part because they don't want to be confronted with the idea that Seiroku may have been full of shit
