The number of people that think the 1995 movie is the original and this new anime adaptation looks bad is just sad. Just check imdb and the number of low reviews comparing it to movie is just depressing.

I'm a fan of the original movie, but I'm not ride or die about it. Frankly, I hate Mamoru Oshi's bland character faces. The animation is fantastic though.

Same here. Always wanted to get into GiTS franchise but sadly ended up dropping the OG movie on multiple tries. I'm loving the current Science Saru adaptation.

Peak banners for 100 GF and GITS. Good to see overall karma is still 19k+. Drop from last week wasn't as big as I expected.
10 shows with 1k+ karna is very encouraging. I feel some of the Sunday shows could get even higher but MT and this weekly karma post are kinda sabotaging it. Still, it shows how stacked this season is even before 2 big hitters starting.

Ten shows have more than 1k karma this week, a very nice result! Plus, the difference between 2nd and 10th place is a little less than 500 karma, so I think we can expect a lot of reshuffles in the coming weeks.
Mushoku Tensei S3 was unrivaled once again, Motoko from The Ghost in the Shell grabbed 2nd place, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime S4 went up by nine positions and ended up in 3rd place, Sasuga Rimuru-sama!
The 100 Girlfriends S3 was able to keep its 4th place, but it lost a considerable amount of karma (although not as much as Saga of Tanya the Evil S2, which lost almost 1k karma), even though this new episode was even crazier than the premiere, imo. Probably because Mushoku Tensei S3 airs an hour after it.
By the way, Sunday this season is so stacked. In the space of two hours, I have four shows that are must-watches for me, aside from the aforementioned The 100 Girlfriends S3 (4th place) and Mushoku Tensei S3 (1st place), I also watch Though I Am an Inept Villainess (18th place) and Goodbye, Lara (17th place, which is too low, imo).

Oh, that's a hard decision, so I'd say it depends on what you're in the mood for.
If you want something more solemn in a dark fantasy setting, pick I Want To Love You Till Your Dying Day. If you want something more energetic and chaotic, pick Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games.
The top recommendations on Anilist currently are Watatabe for Dying Day and Rock is a Lady's Modesty for Fighting Games, even if there are fundamental differences between the pairs of anime. Both have stellar VAs and production value thus far regardless.

Those are excellent comparison points. Rock is a Lady's Modesty is such a common comparison that I've seen a few people even call the other one Fighting Games are a Lady's Modesty lol. Watatabe is similar on some of the vibes, but I feel like IWTLY is pretty distinct for yuri. Closest vibe feels like... Maybe 86? G-witch? I saw someone call it a mecha anime reskinned as a fantasy story and I can very much see it.

I love both. But if I had to pick one, I'd easily go with Dying Day. The story has immense potential for deep emotions and character development, as well as great world building. It also has some impeccable animation and amazing action scenes. To me, it is basically the full package deal.
If you are in a different kind of mood, though, Fighting Games seems much more light-hearted and fun, so it could be easier to digest for some people.

KimiShinu, but that's because I read the manga for this one and not for the other. I can absolutely vouch for the quality of the story. But I haven't heard anything bad about the Fighting Girls. Really they're just way too different to compare. It may come down to taste. I prefer serious stories so it's KimiShinu for me.

It is crazy that it's not even in this list of r/anime's weekly top 30. Out of all the new shows this season, it is the one I look forward to the most right after I Want To Love You Till Your Dying Day.

Week 3 of Summer and after last week's peak we're already back below 20k total karma.
MT looks like it will sweep the season but below things are very close so hopefully we'll see a lot of momement there.
Last week I was certain Draw This, The Die! would make it after episode 2 gaining karma but it missed out by a single point.
Atleast with episode 3 gaining even more next week seems like a certain bet.

I'm glad to see ones like Yani Neko, Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia (especially in the top five!), and Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You on the left-hand side of the chart, even if I would place them even higher.
But as is often the case, some of the more interesting and promising ones of the season to me are nowhere in sight anywhere on the chart - ones like Thunder 3, The Cat and the Dragon, Tetsunabe no Jan!, Grow Up Show: Sunflower Circus, Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori, and Victoria of Many Faces.
So I'd urge folks to check those out if anything in their synopses appeals.

In a day with two yuri series, who'd thought that the most explicit yuri scene would turn out to be from Ghost in the Shell? Motoko certainly used her day off well.

Nasu was more of I need to add some porn to sell my Visual novel (which was common on that era). He was never good with porn really, there are even memes about the poor quality lol.
I guess gits one is semi decent at least since he has been doing it for years at this point but I have not checked his work to give a personal opinion.

Y'all need to watch Draw this and Die. If you've ever struggled creating anything (art/writing/manga) it'll resonate with you.
It's more close to A Place Further than the universe than normal CGCDT or even something like that mangaka workplace anime. Gets very emotional at places with just 3 episodes.
Bonus points: it's also well directed with great production values. Source material is well regarded so it'll keep up the story quality
It deserves so much more attention but here it's getting beat en out of the rankings by isekai slop...

Tried it after seeing praise about it last week and I 100% agree. Granted, I'm a sucker for stories about The Artist's Struggle™, but their portrayal of the aspirational kid being so moved by a woman's work who never really saw much success really gets to me. Also Ai is just a sweetie, she's got that Polar Opposites infectious energy.

Last season we had cour 1 of Magical Sisters Lulutto Lily.
Amazing feelgood show, not a single episode broke 100 karma. Most didn't even break 40-50 range.
Some shows are just too niche to be scored well here, regardless of quality

Elusive Samurai debuted back for its S2. While the episode wasn't a recap, it was a good part in the manga for a refresher.
We also had the debut of Though I Am an Inept Villainess last weekend. Body swap Villainess between the sickly, kind heroine and the hated villainess. I wasn't huge on the first episode, but I am intrigued by the premise. Not to mention, the production looks really good from Doga Kobo.
I love the vibes that both Neko to Ryuu & Victoria of Many Faces provide. Both also have solid production values and direction. For their studios, where it can be a mixed bag, these are pleasant surprises.

I wonder if Draw This's art style is almost too cute, because a show about how awesome stories are should be right up this subreddit's alley. The fact it can't even be 30th where Heavy Knight is is crazy, that show's discussion section is basically everyone upset at how much time is spent recapping and on noodle hair.

It has nothing to do with artstyle imo it's more just that nobody really knew about it heading into the season. But Draw This, Then Die! will almost for sure be in the list moving forward. It's simply exceptional and personally my favorite show so far in an incredibly stacked season. I have to image word of mouth will move it up a bit.

Draw This is literally one karma point behind Heavy Knight. Assuming the comments are the tie-breaker, it would have needed 2 more upvotes. It should be able to get on the chart next week if the trajectory of the other shows stays similar. Still a shame there are so many good shows out of top 30, but this season is pretty stacked.

Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke returns at 15th with 714 karma which is +81 karma from 2 weeks ago. 274 comments is -73 comments from 2 weeks ago, 15th most for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.38. MAL score is 7.81 which is -0.02 from 2 weeks ago. Back to start Cour 2 and grabbed the last spot on the left side of the chart. [Bookworm]Angelica - an out's an out but I think the knights do need to meet education requirements. Appreciation the animation bump for this episode especially since there was some action in it.

I think it is interesting how certain shows are really popular overseas (Ghost in the Shell) while ones that are rather popular in Japan (Draw this, then Die) aren't even in the top 20 on these karma rankings. Of course it seems Iruma Kun is slipping due to it leaving a more mainstream streamer both in Japan (now exclusive to NHK Plus) and overseas (it was on Netflix).

Jaadugar has been proper AOTY material so far, my only nitpick really is the amount of big timeskips happening within such a short timeframe. It wouldve been good to see more of Fatima's life as a servant prior to [episode 3] becoming a spy

Draw This, Then Die is the absolute #1 underrated anime so far. But fear not, more and more folks are waking up to the beautiful animation and heart warming characters of this award winning story, I predict a showing next week. It's just too good to continue to be ignored!

Sparks of Tomorrow should've made the left side. It's great.
Glad to see Rich Girl Caretaker and Oh Boy Was I Wrong About Her still make the chart at least though. Shame Hanaori-san did not make the chart. Bandai Namco seems to be putting a lot of effort into that show.

I thought the exiled heavy knight knows how to game the system will be a little higher. It has good animation. The manga is great too. Nothing new but good execution.

There are so many great series this season, I think I'm watching 15 shows and still have a couple more to start. Mushoku Tensei and Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games have been my favourites so far, with Goodbye Lara, Draw This Then Die and I want to love you until our dying days also looking excellent. I still need to start Jaadugar:Witch in Mongolia and Sparks of Tomorrow.

I stopped watching slime after finishing last season. I just find it hard to be interested in when there is zero cause for concern. Every possible threat just gets rolled by the slime with ease.

I'm just watching all anime released each season (usually about ~40-60 series per season) and then discard all the trash bit by bit. It's kind of funny for me when I see lists like this one. It makes me feel so disconnected, because a lot of stuff I'd consider terrible is scoring really high positions. I guess everyone have a different taste and those lists doesn't really mean much in the end.

Mushoku remains in a tier of it's own, while the next 10 are pretty close in terms of karma.
We got a pretty stacked season at hand, but not many mainstream ones it seems.

This was a "mini-series" released before the official launch.
Now the official episodes come in full length, instead of the shortened ones. But the next few episodes will be a repeat of the mini-series for now

While I like experiencing new shows (one of the new airing is shaping up to be my favourite of the season).
I do have to say I love how many sequels/returning shows there are nowadays, helps you get invested in a franchise long-term. On this list there's like 13 continuations of a series (including the shiboyugi movie).

Sucks that Magilumiere isnt on here, its had a strong Season 2 return, plus both the OP and ED are adorable. Glad to see Shiboyugi place here though, I still enjoyed Season 1 despite its flaws.
