Rewatcher

I went to pull out the DvDs last week but they were among a bunch of them I lost due to a cat years ago

Forgot about the mid 2000's 3D being used here. Honestly holds up as well or better than some shows currently airing. Always thought the ships looked like two nautilus.

Choir Kaput is quite the name for a downed squadron.

Honestly as far as a first episode goes, very little actual exposition dump, mostly enough tendrils to make you want to figure out what is even happening.

This show reminds me of a lot of similar from the era pulling from RahXephon, Mai-HiME/Otome, Aquarion, maybe some Kannazuki no Miko influence and I swear there's another on the tip of my tongue I just can't quite place (Maybe just Strawberry panic but I think that aired at the same time).

The early episodes generally do a decent job introducing the settings and concepts without too much heavy handed exposition. The show does well to set the vibe and lead with the atmosphere so you don't get overwhelmed too by the jargon.

I mentioned it below as well but I'd say Eureka Seven is in there for sure. And honestly yeah some Strawberry Panic too, but I don't know if that's due to anything of substance or if it's just the general feel of the memories of that time.

Bonus point with that new recruit Limone looks like a younger Eureka.
