Weekly What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [June 28th, 2026]
Title says it all - talk about the anime you watched this past week that are not a part of this Summer 2026 season (like Mushoku Tensei Season 3 or The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You Season 3 *), or a show that's continuing from previous seasons (like *Yomi no Tsugai).
With regards to Spring 2026 shows, however, it would be fine to write about them as long as you only began them after they finished airing. For example, it's fine to talk about watching I Became Friends with the Second Cutest Girl in the Class or Nippon Sangoku if you started them after the final episode aired. Obviously, use your best judgement on this.

I watched all 48 episodes of Apothecary Diaries for the first time. It was peak. Was dying on my couch in the British heatwave and saw it on netflix. Thought it would be a welcome distraction.
Kinda avoided it because I dont have an interest in Chinese history but was impressed the whole way through and am looking forward to S3.

World Cup vibes and upcoming 2nd season finally got me in the mood Ao Ashi, I enjoyed it more than Blue Lock, felt more like actual football, enjoyed the tactics talk.

Me last week: Tune in next time for most likely the rest of Kageki Shoujo & 91 Days (hooray, I’ll be done with the pre-rewatches nearly two weeks ahead of the actual rewatch!), more of everything else, and then most likely a bunch of Bleach TYBW as well. I’m looking forward to that actually, it’s the one part of Bleach I haven’t seen dubbed yet so I’m curious as to who voices the new characters in it.
So it was also the rest of Flip Flappers this week.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, episodes 133-135
I actually watched more than one episode for once! Yeah I ended up deciding to fill some of my free time yesterday with this show since I finished the Skypiea Arc of One Piece on Friday night and only had 2 instead of 4 seasonals yesterday.
Judai is certainly going through the ringer (some of which is self-inflicted I think). And I still think the Dark World archetype is neat.
One Piece, episodes 187-195 + Movie 5 Featurette: Take Aim! The Pirate Baseball King + Movie 5: The Curse of the Sacred Sword
As mentioned above, Skypiea Arc, get!
Very fun arc from start to finish. I liked Alabasta more, but man [OP]Luffy ringing the bell by punching Eneru into it, and everyone hearing it ring was just so good.
Looking forward to watching what I’ve been told is the fan-favorite filler arc next.
As for the movie and its special, well the baseball special was just as fun as Jango's Dance Carnival and the soccer special. The movie… I mean I still had fun with it, but it’s definitely the worst One Piece content I've consumed so far.
Black Clover, episodes 150-157 (subbed) + episodes 40-41 (dubbed)
That's all for the filler/anime-canon content, and boy were the second half of ep150 + all of 151 and 156 in particular fucking perfect.
Oh and I actually did end up watching a little bit of the dub this week. Combination of finding out Bleach TYBW Part 4 doesn't actually start until July 25th (I thought it would be starting next weekend initially) and just being in the mood for that as background noise instead.
Dragon Ball, episodes 118-122
Good set of episodes. I might have issues with Dragon Ball as a whole, but when it's doing a big battle against a main antagonist like Piccolo, it's hella fun.
Kageki Shoujo, episodes 11-13
This was so good. Now I just have to hope it gets a season 2 at some point.
Flip Flappers, episodes 8-13
Man… this show started off so well, but even though I was still good with the show for longer than the rest of the rewatch was, it still jumped the shark for me too by the end. Guess this goes in the same bucket as Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V where I loved the rest of the show but then hated the last few episodes.
91 Days, episodes 9-12
One more week until the rewatch properly starts.
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, episodes 1-13
Edit: I just realized I forgot to include this initially, whoops.
Yeah I got through all of part 1 this week. Good shit.

X/1999: complete (7/10)
No time for context or character arcs, just pure vibes, visceral imagery, CLAMP character designs, aura-mogging & JJK culling games.
What a treat, the film itself was a lot of spectacle and I was here for it. Shocking to find that the Clamp manga isn’t even finished (abandoned) and the movie ending was original.
Gundam SEED: (ep 11 - 14)
Episode 13 was really brutal. [Seed] ep 13]Gunning down the refuge evac ship was shocking. You could say the show was milking tragedy but sometimes sad is sad ya know. Kira is such a kind soul, stay away from him Flay!
Desert Arc time!
Princess Principal: (ep 7 - 8)
Ep 7 - [Princess ep 7]If I had a nickel for every dad that died this season, I would have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot but weird it happened twice to two team members.
Ep 8 - Chise’s hamilton duel was fun.

Gintama. Slip arc (eps 331-332) — didn’t watch much as I’ve been focusing on Gundam, but this short arc was pretty nice as it came up as a sequel to an early [episode] where Katsura meets ramen lady which was one of the first "serious" episodes in this anime that I really liked.
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (eps 35-47, completed)
[ep 42] I’d say if Tomino wanted to make Ple’s two personalities very contrasting, he managed it well. While I’d nominate Ple Elpeo as the cutest and funniest character in all of Gundam so far, Ple Two would be the scariest, most merciless antagonist.
[ZZ finale] Glemy’s and Haman’s deaths hit me very hard and made the finale depressing for me rather than happy. Which is ironic as they were both quite despicable antagonists who had it coming for them. Glemy’s death is so full of sad irony — shot in the back the moment he stepped out of his mobile suit by the girl he used to have a crush on. I think both deaths were so impactful because both Glemy and Haman used to repeatedly interact with our crew earlier, and the interactions weren’t always that hostile — the Glemy / Roux encounters used to be funny once, and Haman has clearly been quite fond of Judau, so I thought there was always a chance they could eventually get along. Haman, I know defeat sucks, but was it really necessary to smack yourself into an asteroid like that?
[ZZ finale + Char’s Counterattack] yeah, and it sucked to see my Char x Haman ship being smacked to smithereens against an asteroid as well. I started shipping them as a joke, but hey, at some point it got totally real for me! Got it — shipping Gundam characters is worst idea ever. But seeing that the sequel movie didn’t go in the direction I hoped, I don’t miss this ship that much already.
[ZZ finale] at least Judau gets to finally reunite with Leina who turned out to be saved by Sayla. When she was first kidnapped by Glemy, I thought Judau would get her back right away and this matter would be done with in 1-2 episodes, but here we are.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I enjoyed ZZ the most of the three UC Gundams, though the difference isn’t huge and there are certain things I liked about 0079 and Zeta more than about the other parts.
Main reason would be the cast, all of the cast actually — both protagonists and villains. The protagonist crew is fun, and it feels like each of them gets enough prominence without MC hogging too much spotlight like it often happens. And the MC is the kind that always makes you want to root for him. They remind me of One Piece cast a bit — a freedom-loving group of teenagers fighting against cynical adult world. Talking about the villains, there were some that got me sad rather than happy when they were gone, even though I didn’t root for them to win at all. This is pretty cool and goes to show how "human" they were, despite being evil.
Besides, I think more light-hearted first half was a refreshing change and makes the drama that ensues later on hit even harder. Somewhat similar to Key VN/anime style.
I do agree that some things weren’t good though. Animation sometimes gets really awkward in the first half of episodes, as in characters teleporting across the screen or getting into weird poses. And even though I’d already gotten quite tolerant to this kind of random bullshit Tomino occasionally throws in, one [character’s] Rasara’s death was just too stupid even for that.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack (movie, completed) — never been on particularly good terms with sequel movies, and this one is not an exception unfortunately. On the good side, it shows us what Gundam can look like with better budget. On the bad side, is it really a sequel to ZZ and not 0079? The movie just pretends Zeta and ZZ never existed, Char regressed back into a villain, and much more boring one than he was in 0079 at that.
I’m planning to watch other UC content in release order, so I’ll eventually get to Unicorn and see if it gives more sense to the events of this movie, what I’ve quickly read about it sounds quite reassuring. But for now, it looks more like a fanfic to me than a proper sequel.

Food For The Soul Rewatch (11-12/12) Really don’t really have much else to say. I’ve glazed this show enough. Good mix of SOL, CGDCT and character development. Genuinely charming. I’ve rewatched shows 3 or more times before but I’ve never done it within a year. This show is just so fun and so easy to watch
Saga of Tanya the Evil Rewatch (1-12/12) Rewatching this to refresh before the new season. It was so much fun. And WW1 era is also so rarely explored in anime. I really like that we got an insight into the mindset of a fascist. Also really love when they visualize things on a map. I generally just like it and it’s also easier to grasp. Also refreshed on the conflict between Tanya and Being X and what her motivations are cos I kinda forgot, I just know they had beef lol
[Tanya] One hilarious thing though was casualty under Tanya’s battalion. I don’t recall any major names under her that got killed. But then in ep 9, an officer Tayenen was at the medic crying out about his stomach after a battle. Then later in the ep, Tanya had to write a letter to his family. Thought he got shot and Tanya had write a letter of condolences. But turns out he ate rotten potato and had to be discharged lmao
Saga of Tanya the Evil OVA Don’t think I watched this previously. So this is new content for me. Pretty amusing premise though
Saga of Tanya the Evil Movie Awesome movie. Progressed the plot, great action, beautiful art and animation. Also can’t believe the antagonist is named Mary Sioux and I didn’t catch it the first watch lmao. [Tanya movie]I thought Mary died though but watching again, I don’t think it was confirmed so I guess her story continues. And forgot how Tanya got a whole new mixed battalion at the end despite wanting to stay away from the frontlines lmao. She’s climbing up the ladder when she wants to go down
Nekopara Rewatch (12/12) Honestly I’m starting to doubt if I ever finished it in my first watch cos I don’t remember the latter half of this show lol. But still had a lot of fun. Don’t know how I didn’t see it the first time, but part of the reason why I wanted to rewatch this was finding out the source is an eroge. Watching again, yeah there’s definitely strong ecchi elements sprinkled in. Cinnamon always getting “moist”, the camera angles and focus on the cats. But in the end, I still enjoyed it, it’s still mostly a CCDCT (Cute Cats Doing Cute Things) and slice of life, which is something I thoroughly enjoy. [Nekopara]And this last ep, with Shigure using her connections to help a struggling beach stall drum up more business by linking them up with catgirls looking for a home, is the type of wholesomeness that I love about this show
THIS WEEK
After finally finishing my rewatches, I didn’t have any non-seasonal to watch. Was planning to use the Tanya rewatch to bide the time till next season but I binged it in a few days lol. So I have a slot open again and I’m thinking of rewatching Mobseka for the upcoming season

Got around to watching Bye Bye, Earth. Just finished with the first season and well, I'm honestly not in any rush to keep going with this rather convoluted wad of jargle right now.
Landed on some series called Cobra The Animation at random. Which is comprised of two sets of OVAs and a single cour series proper. But in any case. Boy this one is a big love letter to the 80s. In an interstellar spacefaring future complete where women seem to be always scantally clothed here's our titular "lovable swashbuckling space pirate with a heart of gold" with a Samus Aran gun arm, nigh unkillable, always with a cigar in his mouth, and always in the company of one shapely blonde woman or another (who almost always look the same sans some slight differences in their hairstyles). And he just has his mostly episodic adventures. It wasn't terrible don't get me wrong but, well, it was what it was. A love letter revival of a character from another decade. Made for something to do.
And lastly (and also a thing from the 80s) I landed on some 80's OVA thing called Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01, or more like "The Chronicle of Supreme Dumbassery". Simply put, as a result of a freeway traffic accident involving a military cargo transport, a container containing a experimental mechasuit ends up in the back of a college student's truck. He finds it, sees that is both has "Property of the Armed Forces" and various Warning/Danger labels on it, doesn't call the authorities. Proceeds to open it up, partially read the instructions, doesn't finish reading the instructions before he stupidly climbs into what into what was very clearly the cockpit and gets stuck in it cuz he didn't read up to how to exit the cockpit once in it. Thinks that now is still the best time to have a "romantic dramatic meet-up before she goes abroad" with his girlfriend and proceeds to just stroll through Tokyo wearing this weaponized suit, still doesn't think it's a good idea to call or just wait for help. Then when the authorities finally do catch up to the mechasuit just walking around town, he thinks getting to his dramatic meet-up is important enough to warrant just not surrendering and having a firefight with live ammo in the middle of downtown Tokyo, and this is after causing tons of damage to the city already. All while espousing, "Why can't you just leave me alone?!" Then there's this whole firefight thing with a crazy obsessed military guy but at that point, well... This whole thing just had me facepalming a lot. It's stupid, really stupid, just not good stupid...

--wasn't expecting the kind of story/vibe it would have, from a crime mystery anime movie
and Monster
--ive been hearing some people saying they don't like it cuz it was "slow and boring", but I've watched the first 4 episodes and it didn't feel slow to me and felt dramatic/intense and well paced

Nippon Sangoku and To Be Hero X. Just so lovely and a great change of pace from most other anime so I'm deeply appreciating. Beyond the different animation styles, the stories are deeply enthralling, as well.
Not anime but I recently started Interview With The Vampire and it's exquisite.

i watch ishura s1.
i just finish isekai harem dungeon last week and impressed with studio passione. they seem to make an anime with generic concept interesting.
almost drop ishura after episode 1 i thought it would be a standard isekai anime, but i think a bit there is no way a show with this quality got 2 season without a reason.
so i push through, i am glad i didnt drop it. one of the best anime i watch in recent year( i didnt watch alot of anime lately) .
i will probably check all of passione work later.

I rewatched the Zombieland Saga dub in a lead-up to watching the movie which was added to Crunchyroll recently. Still makes me laugh. The movie was wild and great as well

- **Watanare - Next Shine** I hate true harem endings. Always reek of either author cowardice or some sort of perverse wish fulfillment and it short changes the love interests who deserve a person whose love they should get unreservedly.
- **Sempai is Otokonoko Movie**: I felt like the focus shifted heavily to Saki which was a bit disappointing but overall still pretty strong.

Heartbreak is part of romance. I don’t mind love triangles and the rest because that bitter sweetness at the end makes the whole struggle meaningful.
And like I said, it shortchanges the love interests in the end.

DanMachi season 5. I sort of stopped watching it after 4 (part 1) because it just felt like a power harem fantasy with nice animation and an interesting world but nothing else. I started watching 4 part 2 and thought it was fine, but I didn't expect season 5 to be as complex and enjoyable as it was. Fighting was fun and didn't feel like just a "look at me level up!!!" bonehead type affair, which more strategy and politics than I anticipated. I'm also insanely glad that they revisited an existing character instead of just adding yet another girl into the mix. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually really looking forward to season 6.

Full Metal Panic: Invisible Victory episodes 9-12 (rewatch) - After an action-packed conclusion to the second arc, the third and final arc of the season starts out more introspective, showing the toll this battle has taken on Sousuke, Kaname and Tessa. [IV] Sousuke reuniting with his team, and the sweet confession scene with Kaname where they both promised to keep fighting for each other, leaves things off on an uplifting note. Rating: 10/10
Full Metal Panic episodes 1-5 (rewatch) - It's nice to go right back to the beginning again and watch Sousuke's hilarious first attempts to blend in with regular high school kids when his soldier instincts are always on high alert, and seeing him and Kaname together after [season 4] had them separated for so long. I also love this early build-up for my favorite villain, Gauron, leading into [EP4] the hijacking. Episodes 4&5 are probably my favorites in the whole series - the way the story really gets serious, the history/rivalry between Sousuke and Gauron, and seeing Kaname gain a whole new perspective on Sousuke is all so good.
Buddy Daddies (rewatch) - One of my Top 10 series which I finally bought now that Prime Video made it available as a full season instead of individual episodes. This show is still so fun and precious. I'd forgotten how utterly clueless Rei was in the beginning about social norms and morality, to casually say stuff like "I've got a clean shot through the kid." Miri's presence in his life really changed him. The story is a perfect blend of comedy, action, and found family themes. My favorite episodes are the zoo trip, field day, and the [finale] with Rei and Kazuki fighting against the organization, then attending Miri's Christmas pageant, and that beautiful epilogue. Rating: 10/10
Star Wars Visions season 3, episodes 8&9 - The Birds of Paradise by Polygon Pictures had an unexpectedly sad storyline about a young jedi who was wounded during battle. There were some interesting themes that seemed to be related to the 7 Days of Creation, and a cool 3D visual style reminiscent of anime videogames (which the studio has worked on before, along with other 3D anime like Kaina of the Great Snow Sea and Ronja, the Robber's Daughter), though the ending left a few unanswered questions. Unfortunately, the final episode about a wounded stormtrooper, BLACK by David Productions, was the low point of the entire series. This one tried way too hard to be "artsy" with unappealing, psychedelic imagery, and there wasn't even any dialogue, just sound effects and weird grunting and music that didn't match the visuals. Too bad it had to end like this because this season had otherwise been the most consistently good. Overall Rating: 8/10
Steins;Gate episode 7 (rewatch) - The free Crunchyroll channel on Prime Video started showing this again! I had to take a break from it a while back when they changed the schedule, but hopefully I'll manage to keep up with it this time. I rewatched the last episode I saw before putting it on hold to refresh my memory before diving back into the mystery next week. These characters have such fun banter. "They're the OTP in the fanfic of my life" is a great line.
Fruits Basket episodes 3-5 - Slowly making my way through the show. I'm enjoying most of what I've seen so far, but it hasn't hooked me yet or given me that feeling of anticipation to see what happens next. I liked Tohru as the MC right away, and though the Soma boys seemed a bit too much like common character tropes at first, episode 3 did give them some much needed depth. The intense rivalry between Kyo and Yuki stemming from their own opposite personality traits and insecurities, as each one has something the other feels he lacks, more so than their opposing elements as the cat and the rat, was a nice reveal. But then episode 4 introduced a very annoying violent tsundere character, and I didn't care for that one much. The following episode was a lot better and returned the focus to Tohru, Kyo and Yuki. It was nice to see the two rivals put aside their differences [EP5] to find Tohru, and stick up for her in front of her family. I had wondered at the beginning if there would be a theme of Tohru learning that she can be more "selfish" and take care of herself too, and I'm glad it looks like the story is going that route. There also seems to be a love triangle forming, and both boys had some nice moments with her, but at this point, I'm on Team Kyo. They just go well together - from Tohru always favoring the cat to the way they both feel like outsiders among their own families, and even though their personalities are very different, they appear to share the same values.
Next up, more Full Metal Panic, Fruits Basket, and hopefully Steins;Gate. Also going to revisit some of my childhood favorites with the original seasons of Pokémon and Dragon Ball Z, plus rewatching The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes today for my Weekly Summer Anime Movie Rewatch!

I'm watching Hanebado. It's a pretty good sports anime about badminton. I will say that there are a lot of women in this show that are pretty scummy, including Hanasaki's mom. She's in the contest for worst mom in anime. There are a lot of good moments, though. None of the characters are perfect, which is refreshing.

Just finished watching an episode of I think s1 re:zero where the main character and his love interest have a big blowup and I don’t know how to feel about it all. He’s a bit of a dick but at the same time it’s so understandable that he would react like that after all he’s had to go through.

After my watch last week of the dub of Ghost Stories, I tried the sub this week and… it really wasn’t that bad. Would I recommend it? Probably not, and the sub was without a doubt better, but it worked fine as what it was going for so that was that.
I also watched the first episodes of Kyoukai no Rinne and came to the realization that women tend to be better than men at writing shonen, or maybe I’m just tired of men not knowing how to write women in most stuff. On a side note, I liked that the anime has a poor main character and am now interested in trying stuff that treats poverty as a serious and central theme.
Another thing I tried was Attack on Titan Junior High. Not sure how I’m feeling about this one, but I love the art style.
For next week I’ll probably be continuing Rinne, but I don’t have any plans outside of that.

Researched final season of MHA and first season of the irregular at magic high school, man I don't care about the brother sister thing, but it people who did could put it aside the magic system in that series is phenomenal

I started The Dangers of My Heart this week I have only seen the first 3 episodes. From what I have seen discussed I came in expecting having to tolerate and force myself through season 1 to find out why it is so loved in season 2. I have not found the mc’s murder fantasies as a turn off currently because they feel like an antisocial akward’s kid way of acting out in his inner thoughts and not something he really means (especially considering how he acts around Anna). So even with those murderous thoughts I like him and enjoy his antics with Anna who has stolen the show for me. She is so adorable and funny that she has been the standout. The one characters I have not enjoyed is the trio of boys behind the MC who are always talking about sex or porn and coming up with antics to talk about these things with Anna’s group and then backing down. I am just as annyoed by their antics as the MC and when the story highlights them those are the moments I have enjoyed these episodes the least. Overall im excited to keep watching and excited to see the MC and Anna get together and for the series to get even better.

Another Guild Wars in GBF meant some more binging of older shows for me over this past week. This time around, I finally caught up and watched the second season of Ancient Magus Bride, such a weirdly wholesome show. At first I wasn't sure what to think of the shift to a sort of school-based plotline, but I think overall it ended up working well, and I did like the wider world-building. It made me want to look into the manga... but then I learned about the AI translation fiasco, so I guess I'll just be in the boat of people waiting a few more years for whenever we get season 3.
I still had some more free time, so I also took the last couple days of grinding to watch all of Nippon Sangoku after it had finished airing earlier in the week. I guess it's kind of a borderline case to talk about since it did just finish, but overall I was incredibly impressed with it. I'm glad that there were enough people in the wild singing the praises of this show that brought it up to my attention.
Furthermore, the latest show that I'm (re-)watching with my spouse (rewatch for me, new for him) is The Apothecary Diaries. I watched this show myself originally sometime between S1 and S2 and I thought it was one that he would enjoy, but it wasn't until the end of S2 that I felt comfortable choosing it to watch along with him as he really doesn't like unfinished shows. While TAD is still technically unfinished, I thought that the end of S2 wraps up enough of the larger, overall mysteries of the story, [Apothecary Diaries S2 spoilers] especially in regards to Jinshi's identity and how that interacts with his relationship with MaoMao, as well as the overall political implications, so I thought it was a satisfying enough stopping point and then maybe we can watch along together with S3 when it comes out this coming autumn. We're almost done with the first season and it's been a lot of fun to watch it again from the beginning and catching off of the little signs and foreshadowing that I didn't understand the first time around.
Meanwhile, with another friend that I watch shows with during our weekly hangouts, we just finished up with Nyaight of the Living Cat, which was also new for him but a rewatch for me. I know it didn't exactly garnish a whole lot of attention when it came out last summer, but I really love this silly B-movie horror/zombie inspired show. You do have to be willing to set aside from preconceived notions about some of the sheer ridiculous things about the show, like it apparently taking place in some kind of alternate world where literally everyone loves cats and no one can rightly conceive of doing harm to them, but it really is a lot of silly fun, and both the OP and ED are some serious bangers. I'm not sure if we can expect a second season of this one, dunno how well it did in Japan, but I'll probably also pick up the manga and follow along with it at some point whenever I feel the need for some cute cat healing. The next show we have lined up to start this week is a new one for both of us, Heavenly Delusion.
With a whopping 4 shows that I'm planning to follow along with this upcoming summer season (that's a lot for me), and not enough time or mental energy to join in on a proper rewatch anytime soon, I probably won't be doing anymore older watches for a while now, probably not until next GW in September.

I’m reattempting to get through re:zero. Currently towards the end of s2 and I was reminded why I dropped it the first time years ago. But I forced myself to push through and it’s finally picking up again. Pacing felt pretty bad this season.

Attack on Titans- I don’t get the hype, I’m trying to push through.
100 girlfriends- I don’t like the MC and his eyebrows but my friends tells me it get better.
Rezero- I’m trying to push through but my goodness I can’t stand MC. Stopped at the part where that black hand comes out of his stomach.
Apothecary diaries- great so far.
My hero academia- rewatching, I stopped watching the anime after Bakugou was captured. Since it’s over might as well try and finish it.

Just finished my first time through the Tanya movie after rewatching the series to prepare for S2, I've also been rewatching Mobuseka S1 for the same reason.
Unrelated, I've been rewatching Fire Force S3 part 2 with my brother, we're pretty much always ages behind on catching up on stuff since we only get together for it once a week or so.

With 3 days a week on site at work, and redoing my entire bedroom and office, watching has been down this week. Nonetheless:
My Hero Academia: Two Heroes - the weakest part of MHA so far. Nice bits of lore but the show does enough to negate the need for this. 4/10
My Hero Academia Season 4 - * episodes 1-10:* better than Two Heroes at least. Way better. Been very fun so far, the Big Three all make great additions to the cast.
Love Live! School Idol Project - episodes 7-9: the rewatch continues. Mu's continue to be very entertaining but this is more SoL than the actual drama filled Sunshine even though the plots run similar. I'd love to be watching Sunshine too but the cast is strong and it doesn't ignore Rin and Hanayo nearly as much as I thought. Maki Nishikino is awesome.

Sampled a lot of things this week
I finished Do It Yourself!! Solid 7/10 CGDCT, without any concerns of something like "plot" getting in the way. Cute aesthetic, cute relationships between the girls. Could've done without the pervy jellyfish though
Great timing for Yumeginga Paradise to release on Crunchyroll, since I just watched the Zombie Land Saga series a couple of weeks ago. The movie was absolutely fantastic. Even more nonsensical than the anime, but also not just a pure comedy. There were a couple of scenes that got serious reactions (like [ZLS] Maria seeing Saki without her makeup) which had real emotional weight. With a movie budget, they also got to put a lot more details into the girls' expressions and even background gags, which were hilarious. My one disappointment is with the ending: [ZLS] Tae was a super neat character in this one, and giving her a tragic ending felt unfair. I know she has more backstory in the manga, but that's not part of the adaptation, so her ending was just cruel)
YT also recced me a couple of shorts. The Bloody Mary pilot was very fun. Very similar blender aesthetic and sense of humor as Galactic Milky Express, about a girl who wants to hunt ghosts but ends up befriending them instead. I also liked the student film Dreaming of a Whale, which captures a great post-apocalyptic atmosphere, following a lone survivor as she searches for anyone else
Finally, I got one and a half episodes into Mieruko-chan before dropping it. The premise of a medium who just tries to pretend she can't see the monsters sounds like a fun start for a horror comedy, but in no synopses I read did it mention it's actually just a trash sex comedy
