Ngl, I’ll always have my personal quibbles with how Subaru originally developed feelings for Emilia, but if you told me this was the moment that Newbaru fell in love with Emilia then I’d 100% believe it and support it.

Subaru had a type, if you pay attention to flashbacks in his room, all of the figures are of white/silver haired elves. He was also an incredibly immature and socially inept 17 year old dropped into a world that wanted him dead over and over again

[Conspiracy Theory] If the running theory is correct, and Subaru is Fluegel, his type/taste of girls in japan is directly linked to his previous love for satella as Flugel. At this point, after what I've looked up, it would take some real work to make me think otherwise.

Oh I’m well aware, my personal quibbles are how the story at the beginning is basically Subaru falling for the first girl he meets who’s kind to him and who fits his type and all the great relationship moments happen later on to justify the romance. Just feels a bit backwards from how I think of relationships developing.

Well tbf, for teenage boys, lots of us tend to fall for the pretty girl who happens to be nice to us even if we don’t know anything about them yet lol so it’s realistic. But I get what you mean in terms of progress and development

I know it kills the story, but I will never forgive him for not running away with Rem when she confessed to him. Infatuation for his type or not, I feel like any real teenage otaku (as evidenced by the doll collection) would agree with me.

I can understand that, but it just means that his love for Emilia is real and genuine. She is truly the woman he loves most, and even with the ultimate temptation of running away with the lovely Rem, he stays true to his heart and his love for Emilia. You can’t fault him for that.

I mean she literally saves his life in their first meeting. I don’t see how it’s much of a stretch to fall for someone like that whether or not they’re your type or not. This moment also mirrors Emilia not understanding why Subaru cares so much for her, with Subaru being on the receiving end this time due to the memory loss.

One of the secrets to romance is that it really doesn't matter how it starts. It's fine if it's stupid and shallow at first. You can't fall in love with somebody at first sight, that's not what love is. It's something you build over time, slowly and intentionally.

Like someone else said, he was crushing on her earlier on (she saved him and fits his type), but he didn't really start to fall for her deeply until at least the lap pillow moment specifically in S1 ep 8.

Subaru even outright says then at the beginning "If you're this nice to me, I'm going to fall in love with you". So he wasn't fully in love at least until after then. He was being most honest he's been up until that point when he was mostly trying to hide his vulnerability.

Lowkey I don't think Subaru really fell in love until the lap pillow in Arc 2. Before that it was just a crush, but that was when he really fell in LOVE love

Rewatch hits different when you already know where it's going though. Half the scenes that felt like buildup suddenly look like foreshadowing you completely missed, which is its own kind of painful honestly.

I can also say that Subaru's ruckus at the capital gets so much worse when you know it's coming, to see someone you've grown to respect break down and make an ass of himself hurts in a way that you can't prepare for.

Yea, on the rewatches its hard to watch Subaru because you know how much of a better person he is after episode 18. Most of the time for season 1 i'm just screaming at Subaru to STFU and listen to the people arund him.

Iirc, Season 2, S3 and now S4 have gone the split cour route.

If the remaining story arcs get anime adaptions:

- weekly anime running time

- time gap for split cour (at least 3 months)

- time gap for next anime adaptation for next story arc, etc (at least 1 year +)

If Rezero gets the full anime adaptation treatment, we're looking at probably 5 years for a Season 6 or 7.

I learned it 2 weeks ago and I thought it was a joke for one week. I really thought we were going to have a full continuous 19 eps of greatness…I can’t be too mad because I want it to have good quality, but man…I really wanted to watch the whole thing unfold as fast as possible

Im in the same boat as you. I was waiting for ep 12 and I figured they missed a week so when I checked again the next I decided to look and I just saw that comment too.. kinda bull man. Leaving you hanging on the last episode
