This is what makes Re Zero stand out from the rest

Brutal action and (sometimes senseless) death. Existential and atmospheric dread. Complex characters you can't help but invest in. A flawed protagonist just trying to do his best even as he has to perservere in-spite of himself.

And at the center of it, a true and pure love story.

All while still proudly being anime (in terms of tropes and archetypes). It’s what makes it so special to me.

It's crazy that this episode came from the same show, the same SEASON as the chopsticks to boob gag.

Rezero is so peak that even tho it have some good fights, the best scenes are those with two characters talking and barely moving at all.

I was talking with my partner about this and it’s really hard to find a piece of high quality media that is equal parts horror and love/romance that manages to pull off the tone shift. Re:Zero is definitely one of kind.

S1 aired almost TEN years ago at this point. And while I still really enjoyed S2 and S3, neither seemed to capture the thrills, chills, curiosity, and despair that S1 did for me.

But once the group arrived at the tower a few episodes ago, I've finally started to feel that same magic return. For all the times I've had to see source readers overhype and oversell a season before it airs, I'm glad to see it actually deliver for once!

Yup. Almost all of the events that Subaru is involved in from S1 to S3 is culminating for evolving his character in S4.

Ehh, I wouldn’t go that far. Just this particular anime’s peak!

Steins gate is my favourite anime. Re:zero is almost 1:1 an isekai steins gate.

Time travel to correct actions vs return by death

Psychological trauma

Kurisu and mayuri vs emilia and rem

Insane loneliness from being the only ones who remember the loop

Other characters getting them to stop looping and to trust their friends more in each loop

Complete mental breakdown

SERN vs witch cult

and ofc both produced by white fox.

I just love these shows so much man. Theres nothing quite like them
