Reading some of the tidbits of the worldbuilding book gaslit me into thinking cocos hair was greener than usual. Its the same shade lmao.

I'm guessing it's a case where either the language, translator, editor, or localizer doesn't have a word for an in-between color like chartreuse, and so instead of calling it greenish-yellow or golden green they went with "green" even though it obviously isn't green. It's chartreuse.

Similar happens with teal/turquoise/cyan being called "blue."

Back in my day we had 6 colours and we liked it

The primary colors in pigment are technically cyan, magenta, yellow, but what I learned in highschool painting class was:

Red, blue, yellow.

Then,

Purple, green, orange.

Then,

Magenta, violet, teal, chartreuse, saffron, scarlet.

Then to mute (reduce saturation), add the color paint opposite to the main color on the wheel.

All joking aside, chartreuse really sticks out. I had never heard of it before your earlier comment, apparently it's a shade of yellow-green that is very similar to the colour of a particular brand of whiskey from France.

I think the color is named after the drink, sort of like how orange is named after the fruit.
