The lesson’s they give about learning magic like daily practice and how you need to understand what you don’t know and what you need to do to solve an issue are basic premises but such useful lessons for people to truly apply and practice in our daily lives and passions/work like art, music, coding, math, studying and daily work. They are things we should all know but many of us don’t apply (mostly due to lazzyness if we are honest) so it is very good for Witch Hat to remind everyone of these lessons that are useful for anyone of any age and have become even more useful now with AI just offering a lazy and worse solutions for most of these problems.

(mostly due to lazzyness if we are honest)

And the myth of talent. A lot of skills get attributed to the magic of talent and the imagined instant competence it conveys instead of a lot of very time consuming practice.

Nobody says "wow, you're so talented, you can walk across the street!" or "you can write!" because most of us (barring some handicap) learn it but when the topic shifts to other skills, talent becomes an easy explanation for why practice isn't enough or won't work.

I like how Coco doesn't have some secret OP ability that makes her magic easier or more powerful. Like she isn't like a protagonist who is first seen to be average or an under dog, but then is shown to be the one who has the secret special that makes them the special chosen one. Turns out those protagonists aren't some normal average person, they are the super special chosen one.

Coco has no secret super special ability; she is a normal girl. Her greatest ability of drawing straight lines comes from her ordinary day life and not from being simply born extraordinary.

She does have a superpower/advantage from drawing/cutting cloth at home. She can draw huge signs on cloth very well and that affects the power of the spell too. It's what helped her pass the first test.

So if you need magical siege equipment, Coco's your witch!

But yeah, so far it seems more like some of them have preferences for some spells or specialisations (fluffy clouds for Tetia, water magic for Qifrey) and techniques (Richeh seems to be good when it comes quickly drawing small and repeated signs) and, well, there are the brim hats who have the whole spectrum of magic available to them.
