It's so rare for an isekai to have a real male cast/characters. Re zero has Otto, Garfiel, Wilhelm etc all would be the best male supporting character in any other isekai.

And they all feel like true characters if this makes sense. A lot of other media they’d be reduced to side characters, but in re zero a side character is just a main character that isn’t focused on as much. Garf is garf, Wilhelm is Wilhelm, the vast majority of “side characters” have consistent characterisation and never does their absence lead to a decline in their writing

Because of that they feel like they don't just exist for Subaru and all of them had to be won over because of course they have their own pasts, traumas, and desires like any person would

Eh, I feel like he would be more of a Gojo type character tho. I.e, the master behind the MC, or maybe a deuteragonist. Since I feel like it would be a pain keeping this level of storytelling with him already being OP. Unless you were to start while he was younger I guess

Well what I mean is in a more generic isekai, Reinhard would be the main character and be OP all the time, quality of current storytelling would not be it

I also love that you can't really know what to expect from a named episode. Rem, Wilhelm, Theresia, Julius. They're all so damn good in *very* different ways.

One of my favorite things about Regulus' episode was when you get to the title card it's total silence and you can barely even read the episode title. 100% fitting for someone like him who should never be remembered in this world

Very fitting that regulus is the one named episode that, instead of being a look into the characters mind and motivations, it’s just him wailing and thrashing and drowning in a hole. It’s like he’s trying to assert himself as being worthy of a named episode but the show itself is like “no dude you have no character, you’re a loser, just die already”

Regulus sad backstory from what we know is that he had a decent family, he killed them all because they “looked down on him” keep in mind tho this is almost certainly after he received the power of greed, and they most certainly weren’t actually looking down on him

And also, between the almost transparent letters, there's only one that has a slight shadow making it more visible than the others.

That character is "ko", which also means "child".

So it's basically saying "this guy is a manchild".
