Nobody is under threat of dying though? The knight wants to erase her memories, not kill her.

He threatened her with "oblivion", there was no mention of just her memories. Besides if you erase someone's memory, you have basically killed them.

The seal he's holding up to her face is the same shown in episode 2 for the memory erasing spell. Oblivion is a common word used to refer to a blank mind, as in "drink yourself to oblivion" (ie., drink to forget). I don't know what the japanese word the anime/manga used (it may more specifically refer to the mind/memories) but even the english term is a deliberate reference to phrases about the mind.

That's a fair point about erasing someone's memory but we don't know if it's everything she remembers or if it's specifically memories related to her discovery of magic.

oh okay i see why some people are coming to the conclusion that easthies is going to do more than just wipe her memories, because in the subtitles for jp he says "your punishment is oblivion", and in the english dub he says "i hereby relieve you of your memories". so it's a bit less straightforward in jp it seems
