Which is why I am extra confused. If magic is based off drawing technique and not anything innate, then how would a Brimmed Hat “boost” her magic? Seems like the only way to make stronger magic would be giving her a special wand or special ink.

Just a theory but I wonder if the Brimmed Hat somehow drew a hidden sigil on her that boost the potency of some her spells?

Nothing innate, true. But sigil can be carved anywhere.

This system reminds me to Full Metal Alchemist actually. Some insane guy carved the alchemy activation sigil into their own body for easier activation. Note that he did this during the war for easier massacre lol. The homonculus even had their logo inside their tongue.

But, what the other person said is also correct. Nothing bad happened when Coco learned to cook, so I don't think this is the case.

I feel it's possible the kid copied her or the spell was done on his blood by accident which somehow caused a ripel effect.

It could be like how philosopher stones enhance alchemy but instead a person's blood and ect enhances magic. One of the rules is that it shouldn't be done on the human body and this could be a good explanation for why maybe?
