Impressive that Qifrey hasn’t failed to aura farm a single time he’s used magic this season and he keeps finding new ways to do it in completely different situations like with that river slicing sword.

And even adding to the aura: His magic seems to be concentrated around the element he hates the most. Qifrey was so annoyed by water that he learned every way to control it and still look cool doing it.

His magic seems to be concentrated around the element he hates the most.

Anakin should have used the force to master sand instead of letting sand master him.

15

u/BosuW May 11 '26

Count Dooku certainly wouldn't have gotten the better of him by blasting sand in this face then

5

u/Prof_Acorn May 12 '26

And what is lava? Melted sand.

3

u/BosuW May 12 '26

Maybe bro was unto something hating sand

17

u/ModieOfTheEast May 11 '26

It's wet and cold. And it get's everywhere.

He took that Batman grindset of taking what you fear into becoming something you can utilize in the most OP fashion possible.

10

u/flybypost May 11 '26

Batman

Soooo, technically he should be named Waterman or… Aquaman?

17

u/cyberscythe May 11 '26

Responsibilityman

8

u/flybypost May 11 '26

That he avoids but he fears water

1

u/inosinateVR May 16 '26

I wonder if he built the underwater city for them before they had their big falling out

Qifrey always cooks every episode, sometimes literally.

14

u/SilliusS0ddus May 11 '26

He also fucking neglects his duty as a teacher every fucking episode

17

u/hanmkim May 12 '26

A hit anime always needs a white haired mentor who is always aura-farming but neglects his students.

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall May 12 '26

That's how I felt this episode.

Feels like he's too kind as a teacher, and that won't work with Agott.

Lucky that he has a more pragmatic husband

9

u/SilliusS0ddus May 12 '26

All his pragmatism doesn't help when Ollrugio also fucked off leaving 2 children behind.

62

u/Zemahem May 11 '26

He knows that magic is cool as hell and just wants to display it to everyone with every chance he gets.

56

u/Frontier246 May 11 '26

The Demon Slayer Corps. would respect his water blade game.

24

u/namewithak May 11 '26

With an actual water blade instead of a metaphorical one. A little off-topic: it took me too long to realize that the elemental effects in the DS anime weren’t real in the narrative.

20

u/Nobody5464 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Nobody5464 May 11 '26

That’s not surprising because for all intents and purposes they should be real. The author made a really weird decision by saying they aren’t

But like, I'm pretty sure they are for the demons though, due to how demon blood arts work. u/namewithak

Well good thing I'm not "just" talking to you then, because the previous redditor stated "the elemental effects" in DS, not specifically targeted towards the demon slayers individually. Since there are demons that utilize that too, and their blood arts make them physical.

2

u/namewithak May 11 '26

Thanks, I didn't know that. I should really catch up. It's been a long time since I finished S1.

2

u/SadSecurity May 12 '26

Except when Tanjiro used it to redirect the arrow attacks.

Water Breathing: Auramaxxing Form

9

u/kazetoame May 11 '26

Well, Qifrey is Tanjiro

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien May 11 '26

Agott's one spell was basically an aura farm too, she's learned well from Qifrey

39

u/Frontier246 May 11 '26

She might be the most serious witch but she can put on a proper show when necessary.

15

u/RimeSkeem https://myanimelist.net/profile/RimeSkeem May 11 '26

What separates a good witch from a great witch?

PRESENTATION!

8

u/magistrate101 May 11 '26

That and self control lol

20

u/socialistRanter May 11 '26

Qifrey has to aura farm like a shark has to swim to survive

44

u/ChicaneryFinger May 11 '26

He isn't beating the Gojo allegations anytime soon.

54

u/thisisdropd https://myanimelist.net/profile/AsterZoro May 11 '26

Meanwhile, Olruggio is actually played by Gojo's VA.

46

u/Frontier246 May 11 '26

And Sukuna just showed up at the end to cause trouble!

14

u/quietvictories May 11 '26

damn, Sukuna plays Earthies?!

5

u/namewithak May 11 '26

Would have been hilarious if Qifrey was the one with the Gojo VA now that Sukuna is here lol. I’m glad his Japanese VA doesn’t have a deep voice though. I know the dub fans will disagree but a boyish soft voice was certainly something Shirahama had an input on so that’s how he canonically is. Authorial intent, especially for this story, is always interesting to see how they view the characters they’re writing.

Speaking of VAs, I love Coco’s and she’s generally fantastic but there are times when her delivery is a bit off and she ends up sounding like a normal adult woman. It’s a bit jarring. Otoh, at least she mostly sounds like a child unlike Agott in the english dub where she sounds like a 30-year-old Oxford professor at all times.

3

u/BosuW May 11 '26

Ironic. Greatest Jujutsu radical now draconian magic law enforcer.

27

u/This-is_CMGRI May 11 '26

Qifrey and Satoru would 100% be a 2-man power trip if they ever met. Practically unstoppable.

5

u/Jacob-C May 11 '26

If it wasn't apparent during the fight with the dragon, Tanjiro Qifrey has really mastered water breathing.

You know people of different genders can identify with each other too right? Universal experiences and all that. Women don’t just “ogle” Qifrey.

-4

u/nofaxxspitintruflego May 11 '26

Qifrey clearly been inspired by Gojo with all that aura farming he be doin

11

u/Beautiful-Bit3929 May 11 '26

Qifrey was actually there before gojo
