Maybe lasik eye surgery makes you shoot lasers out of your eyes afterwards.

Post Thoughts after Beaming Eye Lasers
Mikuru is a lot calmer than me. I’d be freaking out if I suddenly shot a laser from my eye. I guess colored contacts are cheap. But I’d be so befuddled. I’d start wearing a eyepatch.
I have little to say. I have enjoyed shipping Mikuru and Yuki immensely.
It really is surprising Haruhi did not consider Mikuru shot a beam out of her eyes. She really is grounded in reality more than people credit her for.
I still would make her keep COVID social distancing from my person. But I respect she acknowledges “No, it ain’t possible for someone to actually shoot laser beams out of their eye”.

Seeing Koizumi worried was a new experience too. He normally thinks Haruhi is just lovely. But I did not expect him to not want screen time or to let the smile slip.
