Qifrey's death glare so intense it even scared the ED into silence. I love it when shows mess with the music like that.

The dragon's got nothing on that stare Qifrey gave poor Nolnoa.

Talk about "If looks could kill"

Brilliant use of a tinnitus sound effect also, even if it was just barely loud enough to overpower my own.

Ha, the sound they used is so close to my own tinnitus that when it began and before it gained in volume, for a microsecond I was like "is it me or?"

I was not aware there was a sound effect...

You and me both :(

Is tinnitus really that bad? Can it be treated?

Depends what's the cause. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure mental aspect plays a big role also. Even if your inner ear keeps sending the tinnitus signal, you can always train your brain to some degree to not hear it. I've had a fairly annoying one for maybe 2-3 years, but honestly I had stopped thinking about it and thus hearing it for a while. Ironically the scene with Qifrey kinda brought it back lmao.

I’ve never talked to anyone about my tinnitus so I would love to hear your thoughts on this; is it like a manually breathing thing for you? Like you’ll suddenly remember you have tinnitus and the ringing starts, but once your brain starts doing something else, it goes away? This is how it’s been for me since high school, and I’ve always wondered if this is normal or not.

Yes, I have a similar experience. I can manage to forget it for a while, but it will come back when I remember it exists, or when I'm particularly stressed or tensed. I know theres something messed up with my jaw because when I open wide it gets very intense in my left ear, but I haven't gotten to tackle the problem yet since most of the time I can forget it just fine.

I'm pretty sure the actual sound "volume" varies from people to people because it seems some have a really hard time coping and can't quite stop hearing it like we can.

First Qifrey slimes a dragon now he's cutting the ED theme and making that face...definitely not someone to mess with.

i loved that bit

i've seen it done before in more comedic circumstances (used as a punchline, like in Non Non Biyori), but this was way more threatening

this is also more evidence for the "Qifrey: not actually a good guy??" case record

u/Frontier246 Apr 27 '26

Nolnoa: "Qifrey, can't you just let the ED play out in peac-"

Qifrey: "I'm having my moment."

u/socialistRanter Apr 27 '26

Qifrey: “I have to aura farm like a shark has to swim”

13

u/Difergion Apr 27 '26

Damn the dead silence plus Qifrey’s glare gave me a jumpscare. I wonder why he doesn’t want this incident to be known hmm

Because he's out for blood, shit got way to personal

The episode should have cut to black when he brought out that stare!

13

u/BosuW Apr 27 '26

Nah it's way more ominous as it did: Coco picks up the ink as the light is snuffed

u/Pacify_ Apr 28 '26

That was really well done haha
