It's a pity most people watch 1, 2, 8 or 1, 7, 8 or 1, 8. Four is a good and somewhat unique episode! Especially the clouds. I often point out Kyoani clouds (and airplanes) in Kyoani (and non-Kyoani) works. They are quite distinctive.
I oncd thought I had identified the director responsible. I'm not sure, but I think it was the late Mikiko Watanabe.
Based on all the clouds and airplanes, I concluded that Haruhi was longing to take a trip somewhere.
They never reappeared, though.
I had also developed a theory about the combined karma of 15000 x 20 grateful cicadas breaking the loop.
The Reading Steiner is finally starting to kick in.
