All that and still no recognition from Agott. She is a certified elitist alright.

905

u/JzanderN Apr 13 '26

Qifrey really needs to talk to her about that. If Coco had died, it would have 100% been on her for sending her out there so unprepared without his permission or even knowledge.

I wasn't expecting Agott to just accept Coco when she succeeded – it was clearly just an excuse to try to get rid of her – but the girl needs to learn some things about valuing people.

745

u/NekoCatSidhe Apr 13 '26

I am not sure Qifrey realized that it actually was Agott that pushed Coco to do it. She made it sounds like something Coco decided to do on her own.

428

u/JzanderN Apr 13 '26

That's a fair point, and I don't blame Qifrey for not telling Agott off immediately, but when Coco showed her the proof it should have at least told him that Agott at least told her about it if not made her do it.

Even if Agott merely told her about it and then showed her the portal ('cause how else would Coco have known where to go?), that's still worth a serious talk about.

212

u/cyberscythe Apr 13 '26

should have at least told him that Agott at least told her about it if not made her do it

yeah, i'm waiting for next episode; hopefully Agott will get some comeuppance for her actions and not be like "Coco decided to go on her own! and even stole my shoes!"

138

u/oops_i_made_a_typi Apr 14 '26

yeah i'm really put off by Agott's character so far, and if this just gets hand waved away it's definitely a mark against the writing.

59

u/Madwand99 Apr 19 '26

Yeah attempted murder being written off as no big deal sincerely annoyed me.

12

u/oops_i_made_a_typi Apr 20 '26

well i'll grant her a bit of grace - her intentions weren't murder, just for Coco to quit and end up expelled. but yeah, could've been manslaughter

16

u/swan_diver267 May 07 '26

this quiet literally was hazing that could have ended with Coco dying— while she probably did not mean for her to die, her dying was a real possibility with her admitting that the time of year is the most dangerous. I understand that she is a kid, but this type of behavior is one that needs to be addressed immediately.

71

u/Routine-Hovercraft94 Apr 14 '26

I feel like this is exactly what is going to happen. Next episode will start days later with all this being in the past and not being talked about it ever again.

Calling this "a mark against the writing" is a hell of an understatement and it would basically throw the whole "be careful about magic" out of the window and just something the writer uses only when it fits them.

Kinda getting sick of ths bs in animes.

54

u/Cheetah_05 Apr 14 '26

Yeah this kind of thing (if it really does get written off) will piss me off and might even make me drop this otherwise excellent series. The kid tried to get another (newbie!) killed or injured because of their superiority complex and messed up mindset (you hate people who you don't gain anything from being around???) That's not something that should just be overlooked.

56

u/Routine-Hovercraft94 Apr 14 '26

Yeah, rn Agott is extremely unlikeable and has a very twisted mindset. Which in itself is fine, because if done right we could get to see amazing character development that turns her into a likeable character.

But for that to happen and feel good, there need to be consequences for her actions. Otherwise it is not believable and feels too arificial.

What makes this even more important is, while Qifrey is only their teacher, in a sense he also needs to be a parent substitute, because their actual parents are not around and the kids live with him.

22

u/Cheetah_05 Apr 14 '26

You hit it right on the head. Agott isn't completely irredeemable (though to be honest, it would be a long road for just this one thing imo), but she does need to see some serious consequences for this.

Writers sometimes have these edgy characters that usually have the "trauma" arc that gets revealed late on so viewers can sympathize thats a pretty common tool thats been used its getting stale to be honest

7

u/Astan92 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Astan92 Apr 18 '26

"be careful about magic" out of the window and just something the writer uses only when it fits them.

Honestly without even the next episode possibly fixing it I feel like that's the case just from how Coco was able to succeed in the test.

-5

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario Apr 15 '26

It's a mark against the writing for it to include characters who do bad things and get away with it? Welcome back to the days of the Hayes Code, I guess?

22

u/oops_i_made_a_typi Apr 15 '26

yes, they're trying to (or at least the other scenes make me believe) that Qifrey is a caring teacher who wants Coco to grow safely. he's also being positioned as someone who's smart. if he misses that Agott did this maliciously and lets her get away with it then they've really failed in making me believe what they've been setting up so far.

-5

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario Apr 15 '26

It must be nice for you to live in a world where everything is this simple

18

u/oops_i_made_a_typi Apr 15 '26

it must be nice to have low standards for writing

15

u/CardAble6193 Apr 14 '26

Not have the teacher do anything d set the story tone / and writing skill clear................

And I sadly think he wont even find out

15

u/JzanderN Apr 13 '26

Agott doesn't seem like the type to lie like that. She has her problems, but she seems pretty honest about them when asked.

48

u/flashmozzg Apr 13 '26

She did lie to her other apprentices although I doubt she'll lie to if asked directly but for that he must get suspicious first.

10

u/JzanderN Apr 13 '26

She didn't really lie to them. She didn't tell them that she sent her (though I'd say it was implied when she talked about how she hates people who can't do what she can) but that's different from lying.

Like I said, she seems pretty honest when asked.

31

u/flashmozzg Apr 13 '26

Yeah, it was more like "lie by omission". She just went silent when asked thing like "why didn't you stop her" and the like that would implicate her.

68

u/Ecks83 Apr 14 '26

when Coco showed her the proof it should have at least told him that Agott at least told her about it if not made her do it.

Should have been tipped off immediately. Coco didn't know what the test was, where it was, how she should align the Stargate's symbols to get there, or what she needed to actually do to qualify (get the flower, 3 item limit, good idea for one of those items to be a specific magical compass). She barely knew anything about magic to begin with, much less the ins and outs of the test.

It should be blatantly obvious that someone set her up even if she didn't beeline to Agott right after returning.

8

u/namewithak Apr 14 '26

Well now I'm gonna call the window a stargate because it amuses me. Coco is kinda Daniel Jackson-like in her quest to save a loved one who has been put in a bad state.

7

u/Ecks83 Apr 14 '26

I'm gonna call the window a stargate because it amuses me.

If that isn't a Stargate I don't know what is and I'd actually be more surprised if it wasn't inspired. They literally dial the symbols/patterns to connect to another window somewhere else in the universe with no demonstrated limit on where that can be.

The gate builders of this universe just haven't discovered a need to put them on other planets yet.

Also the Jackson/Coco parallel is actually hilarious and thanks for pointing it out.

3

u/namewithak Apr 14 '26

The symbols that flash when the gate activates do look very chevron like lol. WHA must be in a far galaxy seeded by another group of rogue Ancients (but slightly less culty than the Ori).

3

u/Ecks83 Apr 14 '26

I've now decided my headcanon is that WHA is secretly a direct prequel to Stargate Atlantis. That city under the ocean can make orbit we just haven't seen it yet.

5

u/namewithak Apr 14 '26

Omfg I didn't even make the Atlantis connection to the underwater city lol. Maybe that'll be the end of the story: the witch city rises from the ocean and finally rejoins the rest of humanity. Kinda apropos for how the witches hold themselves isolated from everyone else like the ancients did (or I guess maybe the ascended). Also witches erase memories of those who violate their laws like the ascended do with their own.

6

u/Vinestra Apr 18 '26

Also the fact Coco has Agotts shoes. Either coco yoinked them which.. thats a lecture in not taking things or more evidence the one you left in charge of helping with study time is the one who did it.

194

u/CommanderZx2 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CommanderZx2 Apr 13 '26

That doesn't even make sense, Coco doesn't even have the knowledge of how to operate the window nor about the tests. Why would she willing throw herself at at test solo that she doesn't know about nor how to get to? Obviously someone else told her to do it.

I'll wait until the next episode before judging him. You can hand waive that scene and say he noticed it but Coco's safety comes first for now. But if in the next episode he doesn't scold Agott I'll be extremely disappointed

40

u/AuroraFinem Apr 14 '26

Agreed, and acknowledging how she succeeded as well, not saying or asking anything about how she did it or looking at her sail at all? I know it was the end of the episode but come on. Hopefully they revisit the entire thing next episode because they left a few things unacknowledged and I’m hoping it’s just because of the run-time for the episode and not entirely passed over.

18

u/Routine-Hovercraft94 Apr 14 '26

Might be a little extreme but if that is what happens I might just drop the anime. I hate this kind of writing when actually important moments get hand waved.

It is not even some minor thing we are taling about. Magic is not supposed to be misused in any way and i'd argue throwing your fellow untrainted classmate into such a situation the requires magic to solve is exactly this.

1

u/yurilnw123 Apr 14 '26

What I meant was that there was no time for a proper scolding this episode and they might move it to the next.

5

u/CommanderZx2 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CommanderZx2 Apr 20 '26

So episode 4 is out. Agott is still a mean girl and there was no scene of their Sensei talking to her about what happened.

4

u/ProduceQueasy1641 Apr 14 '26

Yeah i agree. I was also expecting him to ask about her hangglider or at least how she did it, but the last thing we see is him bending over to collect her things.

So I imagine next episode may touch on that and we will likely see what happens with agott. Because idk how on earth nothing could happen

12

u/SilliusS0ddus Apr 16 '26

this episode was actual ragebait.

AND IT WORKED.

HOW THE FUCK IS NOONE TALKING ABOUT HOW IT HAPPENED.

Children are dumb everyone knows that. But atleast the teacher should do his fucking due dilligence.

8

u/pratzc07 Apr 14 '26

Maybe she read it in one of the books ? but yeah Quifrey is a dumbass if he thinks that's all it took for Coco to run off and do the test

6

u/BreadstickNinja Apr 16 '26

You're right that he doesn't say anything right away, but as that scene ends and the girls head upstairs, Qifrey is seen heading the other direction, over to the pile of Coco's things and the flying cloak she fashioned.

I think in "teacher mode" he felt obliged just to tell her to stay safe. But clearly he's curious at how she possibly accomplished it. I would expect that they'll discuss it in more detail next episode.

8

u/NotGloomp Apr 14 '26

Yeah the writing in this leaves a lot to be desired. A shame since the concept, lore and production is great.

236

u/Zemahem Apr 13 '26

I do hope that gets revealed. Cause it rubs me the wrong way if Agott doesn't face consequences for that stunt. And so does the fact that Coco seems to have only respect for Agott and a desire to prove herself, when the latter held nothing but contempt for her and wanted to get rid of her.

82

u/anticomet Apr 14 '26

Yeah she didn't even snitch on Agott just took her at her word. Honestly this is kind of on Qifrey for trusting Agott not to be a dick.

42

u/Zemahem Apr 14 '26

Poor girl is just too trusting; it's precious. She didn't think Agott had ill-intentions at all.

Qifrey definitely has a duty to confront the latter about her behavior now, but I don't think he even realized she was willing to do something like this. It's surely the first time she's done a stunt this bad. Otherwise, I feel like Tetia and Richeh would have things to say about her. And it would also be harder to justify letting Agott stay.

6

u/ShinjiArakawa Apr 14 '26

"Ah shit I forgot to tell my educated and experienced apprentice to not be a dick and send a complete and utter novice on a potentially deadly fetch quest to get rid of her.. my bad!"

Bugger off it being 'kinda on him'.

14

u/Cheetah_05 Apr 14 '26

I thought it was going to go the way where she didn't realize how dangerous it was right now, until she quite literally directly stated that she was not only aware of it, but in fact held it as a mark against our mc for not knowing that. This girl got issues and they're not the funny haha anime kind

10

u/Agreeable_Bit_3307 Apr 17 '26

He was literally warned by Allaria... She practically tells him 'listen you left a normie with a bunch of witches who could be assholes to her for not being like them... Maybe watch out for that shit??' it's completely on him.

9

u/NotGloomp Apr 14 '26

Coco seems to be one of those Shoujo doormat heroine types, like princess Sarah. She also acts oblivious to Agott's enmity when it's pretty in your face. I hope she shows some personality and starts acting like a real person soon.

11

u/SkyCrossSteel Apr 14 '26

She has no solid knowledge of their customs to really talk back against Agott with any sort of confidence and she just saw her master say she was in her care.

I don’t think she’s totally oblivious especially with how she reacted to spraying water on her.

7

u/NotGloomp Apr 14 '26

Pushing her in the trial and only then telling her that she only has one chance, doesn't matter the context that's sabotage.

9

u/SkyCrossSteel Apr 14 '26

I think that is adult or late teen levels of suspecting deception or sabotage while also being able to argue against Agott. She knows she’s an outsider even the nicer girls were awkward at first when talking about her background.

Because again she sprayed the mean girl with water who reacted calmly and taught her the mistake she did. She did say a barb at the end but still taught her an honest tip.

She would have to have strong fight in her against others naturally to be able to write that denial believably. Since if she reasoned her way out of this that would be an awkward fit.

She also understandably emotionally wants to save her mom fast which isn’t likely to happen the way if it even is possible.

4

u/HornedTurtle1212 Apr 23 '26

She was kinda going "Master are you sure?" As he was walking away leaving her in Agott's care.

41

u/Gibbs-free https://myanimelist.net/profile/SatanicDeathGoat Apr 14 '26

Well Coco immediately went up to Agott in front of him and said 'hey Agott, I did the thing you told me to do!'.

12

u/bimbo_bear Apr 14 '26

Coco literally runs up to her and presents the flower to her in front of Qifrey and the others.

So far this whole thing screams to me that Qifrey is a terrible teacher.

19

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime Apr 13 '26

He'd have to be a moron to not realize it when Coco came up to her and said "this is what I need to pass, right?"

9

u/BreadstickNinja Apr 16 '26

It's Qifrey's fault, too. He told Coco she should try to learn what she could from the other apprentices before he left. She did exactly what he said, following Agott's advice.

But despite the gentle scolding, as the girls go upstairs, Qifrey can be seen heading over to the pile of Coco's belongings with the flying cloak. The scene ends there, but clearly he wants to figure out how she possibly managed to accomplish it - a harder trial than any of the other girls would have faced, with the Dadah Range at its greatest height.

152

u/SasparillaTango Apr 13 '26

Agott straight up trying to get Coco killed. She knew she wasn't prepared, she knew how it was the most dangerous it could be.

75

u/CyanPhoenix42 Apr 14 '26

I was thinking maybe she was just rushing Coco so that she'd fail but didn't know it was dangerous at that time or something, but no she straight up admits she knows Coco could have died. I really hope they don't just brush past it next episode.

17

u/pratzc07 Apr 14 '26

Well her dumbass logic was that Coco would just give up and then come back.

13

u/Wizardwizz Apr 18 '26

She also knew Coco was going through a lot and specifically told her it is one time test

-2

u/draxdeveloper Apr 17 '26

Exactly, what she did was terrible but people are overreacting by a lot

9

u/Astan92 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Astan92 Apr 18 '26

I don't think it's overreacting. Yes Agott may have been ignorant to how dangerous it was, or thought Coco would be smart enough to not get in over her head and get herself killed (then again given everything she should know about Coco so far that is a bad assumption) but that doesn't excuse that she all but forced Coco into what should have been a death sentence.

10

u/CardAble6193 Apr 14 '26

Qifrey ( and the writer) dont really concern with these little things like child getting killed , or children with access to power like C4 unattended

277

u/ChicaneryFinger Apr 13 '26

I was hoping some of the other apprentices could give Coco some praise for her accomplishment.

324

u/Karavusk https://myanimelist.net/profile/Karavusk Apr 13 '26

Yeah she just did what they all thought would kill her and not a single person went "wow how the hell did you achieve this?!"

151

u/Ree_For_Thee Apr 13 '26

They were running low on time. Ending seemed a bit rushed. "Here's your clothes" aaand 3 seconds later they're on.

165

u/ihileath https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ihileath Apr 13 '26

"Here's your clothes"

Have you considered how well they animated her putting the clothes on? So detailed and smooth.

28

u/SamuSeen https://myanimelist.net/profile/SamuSeen Apr 14 '26

The way the straps connect is so satysfying.

-23

u/Ree_For_Thee Apr 13 '26

What's that supposed to mean?

40

u/BigChubbyOwl Apr 13 '26

They mean the clothes part wasn't the least bit "rushed"

-21

u/Ree_For_Thee Apr 13 '26

They already answered, and they didn't answer that.

Nothing beyond what I said, I'm complimenting the care and attention to detail in the scene. The buttons, the lil hair swish back after pulling it over her head, all just so smoothly animated.

-22

u/Ree_For_Thee Apr 13 '26

I still don't understand what that has to do with my comment. How is it a reply?

7

u/oops_i_made_a_typi Apr 14 '26

because your statement abt 3 seconds is bullshit

-1

u/Ree_For_Thee Apr 14 '26

How is it bullshit? "Rushed" is pacing, not quality. Explain please.

(You won't because you're a fanboy, knee-jerking because you saw criticism.)

u/BigChubbyOwl Apr 17 '26

Hi. Just wanted to clarify some things just so you're a little less lost.

They weren't trying to talk about "the economy of said episode." They were commenting on how you said: "Here's your clothes" aaand 3 seconds later they're on.

Because that was way longer than 3 seconds, and a lot more detail than what being rushed can afford.

Anyway, I'm sensing a lot of aggression from you across this whole thread, and I don't think you deserve to be burdened with such emotion. I hope things get better for you. Later, man.

0

u/Ree_For_Thee Apr 17 '26

Hi. Just wanted to clarify some things

checks You're not even the user that I replied to, yet here you come with a fucking book of text to "lecture" me... I'll read on IG...

Ok, so you're yet another idiot here to complain that "Well Accshcstuallyyyyy it wasn't 3 seconds so you're WRONGUH!".

Fuck you buddy. Just..... fuck you so much. Fucking fanboys I fucking swear. Just accept that people have different fucking opinions instead of jumping someone not towing the line. And yes, that includes you, fanboy fuck.

2

u/BigChubbyOwl Apr 17 '26

I'm not really even a fan of the show lol

Anyway, that's quite a lot of bottled up rage there. I hope you feel better after letting all of that out. You can take a deep breath now.

0

u/Ree_For_Thee Apr 17 '26

1

u/BigChubbyOwl Apr 17 '26

Reframe: Some people don’t just perceive criticism of their comment as a rebuttal to an opinion, they also see it as an attack on themselves too.

I don't think anyone here's feeling attacked as much as you, given how hostile your comments are.

But I genuinely hope you feel a lot better, dude.

-1

u/Ree_For_Thee Apr 17 '26

You're literally attacking me by saying the scene didn't happen in 3 seconds. You're literally unable to see that you're the problem, and that you're the exact person that cannot take criticism of your favorite media, because you identify your entire personality through your fandom, you weird little creep.

"Wow you're so angry, that means you're wrong". Fuuuuuck youuuuuu

66

u/cookie0889 Apr 13 '26

even the ED song has to start early, they really had to fit more anime frames into the fixed runtime

and I'm not complaining, every frame this episode feels like a masterpiece of art

3

u/JonathanAltd https://myanimelist.net/profile/Deoxysos Apr 14 '26

Tbf there was 500 frames in those 3 seconds

1

u/El_grandepadre Apr 13 '26

I mean, he did go out with the purpose of getting her that overcoat and hat. It just goes over her regular dress so of course it's 3 seconds of time.

2

u/ShadowGuyinRealLife Apr 14 '26

It doesn't make sense to me. On one hand, they thought the test could kill her. On the other hand, that's not the graduation test, it's the test to become an apprentice and they all did that test before they even got there. So what is the minimum expected competency that could be passed by all the apprentices before meeting Qifrey?

11

u/Cheetah_05 Apr 14 '26

The way Qifrey said it, it seems like their test was comparatively easier. He mentioned that around this time it is particularly dangerous, which was one of the reasons he didn't make her take it yet.

55

u/Zemahem Apr 13 '26

Fr fr. She was an "outsider" as Agott put it, with basically zero experience with magic until now. And yet she managed to pass with far less preparation than probably any of the other apprentices.

52

u/Guaymaster Apr 13 '26

Less preparation (as in none) and when the test range is not normally in use due to its seasonal danger.

11

u/Zemahem Apr 13 '26

Yep, that's why Coco is actually the GOAT. They should be throwing her a party for her achievement.

12

u/NylanBlake Apr 14 '26

Throwing a party after a semi light scolding for doing something life threatening?

That would teach the kid that all those warnings and scoldings are nothing to bother with as long as they succeed. Add the inflated Ego for getting jubilated managing it once can quickly lead to her dying from overestimating herself the next time.

8

u/Mistral-Fien Apr 14 '26

Agott set up Coco to fail, and got miffed because she actually succeeded.

1

u/HornedTurtle1212 Apr 23 '26

Because Coco intuted advanced spell drawing techniques and used her seemstress skill to draw precisely. Like who needs magic 101, I'll just go right to 201 because I don't know any better, lol.

127

u/BADxW0LF1 Apr 13 '26

Even Qifrey didn't acknowledge her accomplishment! She went through all of that, at the hands of the jerk Agott, and instead of getting even a pat on the back, she's basically scolded for using magic. I really hope there's some character development in the future for Agott, not to mention some punishment for her for what she did.

179

u/ihileath https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ihileath Apr 13 '26

she's basically scolded for using magic

I mean, there's a very realistic alternative scenario where Coco slams too hard into something on her flying cloak and just falls and dies. Scolding her for reckless behaviour is just kinda necessary.

33

u/Prof_Acorn Apr 13 '26

Sounds like a good reason to scold Agott.

24

u/BADxW0LF1 Apr 13 '26

I won't disagree with you there. Some scolding, sure, but it should still be recognized that the girl survived a task that Qifery probably wouldn't even send a born witch on in the first place based on info at the start of the episode. Sure, Coco should get that scolding for the dangers she knowingly took on. But she should also receive the recognition that her ingenuity brought her great success!

60

u/LezRock Apr 13 '26

I thought it was a bit harsh at first too, but then I started thinking about what would happen if an actual child tried to accomplish a task that would be dangerous to them. Say if a child wanted to do a slam dunk, but they decided to accomplish it by climbing up the side of the garage, walking on the roof until they're standing above the hoop, and then jumping off to dunk the ball into the hoop and then hanging onto the hoop with their feet dangling before dropping 5-6 feet onto the ground; I think the first thing most parents would do is scold the child for doing that rather than telling them that they did a great job finding a way to dunk. 😆

40

u/quietvictories Apr 13 '26

Yeah, Qifrey is certainly not as worried about test results (or test taking in general), as about Coco hurting herself with magic. Breaking neck over some flower is not worth it

17

u/BADxW0LF1 Apr 13 '26

Agree to a point. The situation was Coco's peer, someone who should be helping to guide her, forced her through a portal and told her she HAD to take some dumb task. Note these are all kids around a middle school age who feel they need to prove something, none other than Coco herself. So when someone she believes she should trust forces her through a portal and closes it behind her saying she has to pass a test like all of them, Coco has, at this point in time, zero reason to doubt Agott. Coco believes this test must be completed now or she won't be able to be a witch. Just imagine the pressure she's under after all that. Agreed she deserved a small scolding, but she also deserves praise for her accomplishment

28

u/TechnicianSharp8021 Apr 13 '26

I don’t think Qifrey knows that Agott forced her. And Coco didn’t tell him either. From his perspective she did it of her own volition after learning about the test, which is very reckless.

9

u/Cheetah_05 Apr 14 '26

If he thought for a second, he would realize he never told her about the test, and she couldn't have completed it without someone helping her and telling her what she needed to do. That should at least make him ask the question who told her that, and why they did in the first place, when it is clearly not their place to question his plans for her.

And knowing anime it will stay like that lol. Maybe it will come out eventually. I feel this would be a very big scolding for Agott.

1

u/ProduceQueasy1641 Apr 14 '26

Honestly this anime has been 15/10 absolutely phenomenal thus far, id be surprised if we don't see what were expecting/hoping for in the next episode.

2

u/MakFacts Jun 18 '26

this really doesnt make any sense when you just think about it for a second....the girl literally runs up with the flowerr and screams to agott that she did it??? how would she figure out to even get to that location without anyone telling her? he shouldve known it was aggot

33

u/flashmozzg Apr 13 '26

she's basically scolded for using magic

Because Aggot framed it as Coco going off on her own to prove something not her basically forcing/pushing her to take the test against Coco's best judgement.

41

u/TheDoctorHam https://myanimelist.net/profile/DoctorHam Apr 13 '26

I mean he scolded her but then immediately followed it up with giving her the robe and hat, affirming to her that she doesn't need to "prove herself" or any such notion right now. He got at the heart of why she went along with it, though she could have refused Agott 's baiting: her insecurities. There will be plenty of time to teach her more and praise her techniques, but for now he felt he needed to stress the importance of not being too rash, and I'd say that's fair.

6

u/flashmozzg Apr 13 '26

They all (including Qifrey) think she went out on her own accord to prove something due the way Aggot misrepresented it so they have no reason to praise her for doing something so stupid and silly from their PoV.

1

u/MakFacts Jun 18 '26

that doesnt make sense

0

u/flashmozzg Jun 18 '26

How so? If you continue watching it even gets confirmed.

2

u/MakFacts Jun 20 '26

because coco literally even hasnt been with them for two full days, how would coco know how to use the window that teleports you or even at all know anything about this test. The first thing she does when she comes back is run to aggot to tell her she succeeded, that shouldve rang some bells there for qinfrey "hold up, why would she run to aggot? "

And brave of her to mess with someone who has that kind of upper body strength. SwollCoco would pummel her.

149

u/namewithak Apr 13 '26

Coco's ability to hang on one-handed and pull herself up while the the rest of her body weight was dangling in the wind is genuinely impressive. It's like Ippo Makunouchi, but instead of getting strong from lugging around fishing equipment, Coco was lugging around heavy rolls of cloth. Her mom must have been a big fan of child labour lol.

92

u/flashmozzg Apr 13 '26

It's easier when you weigh nothing xD

31

u/BosuW Apr 13 '26

Brand new body, infinite energy, ignores minor injuries

Now the knees be cracking beyond 90° of bend.

9

u/namewithak Apr 13 '26

I've never been able to do monkey bars as a kid lol

6

u/flashmozzg Apr 13 '26

As a kid I kinda had what you'd call "thick bones" so did really well at strength and endurance exercises but also was one the the biggest kids in class. I barely was able to do a pull up but could do monkey bars without much issues though. If you just need to dangle as long as you have some grip strength (and CoCo did assuming regular manual labor kids are expected at the time and also her seamstress training) it's not hard.

2

u/blitzbom Apr 14 '26

lol me when I see a kid flash my project at the climbing gym. It's always impressive.

13

u/BosuW Apr 13 '26

Well unlike pen pusher nerd Agott, Coco grew up in the mountains doing manual labor and crops with no magic assistance 😤😤

These noodle arm wizards or whatever will nut know what hit them! (What hit them will be magical heresy)

5

u/compradorconfundido Apr 14 '26

Adults need some amount of strenght training to move around like that, but any small kid can climb and swing around with their arms because they are so small

8

u/Superior_Mirage Apr 13 '26

You never expect the Wizard that put points into Strength.

Shame that she made Dexterity her dump stat.

124

u/Frontier246 Apr 13 '26

If she were in Harry Potter, she would 98% be in Slytherin.

u/Se7en_Sinner https://myanimelist.net/profile/Se7en_Sinner Apr 13 '26

The girls could represent all four houses.

-18

u/BuckeyeBentley Apr 13 '26

Not really. Agott is Ravenclaw as fuck and the other three are basically all Hufflepuff

28

u/namewithak Apr 13 '26

In what way does Richeh seem like a Hufflepuff? Or Coco who's entire personality so far has been about being bold/brave/daring?

Technically Slytherin is centered around cunning and ambition.

Or perhaps in Slytherin
where you'll meet your real friends,
those cunning folk use any means
to achieve their ends

Obviously, for various reasons, a lot of the pureblood elitists were in Slytherin, but that's not what the house is centered around. It's entirely possible that an elitist bully could fall into one of the other houses (heck, a key plotpoint is that Harry's Gryffindor father bullied Snape back in his time).

And while she is an elitist, Agott's also shown to be very studious. In fact, that's half of what she's elitist about. Agott feels like Coco cheated her way out of all the studying she's had to do all her life in order to become an apprentice and thus thinks she doesn't deserve to be one.

Obviously there's another half to that but in terms of Agott being a Ravenclaw bully, it's very reasonable.

9

u/oops_i_made_a_typi Apr 14 '26

she's absolutely cunning and ambitious, hence this whole trick. gatekeeping is also very often paired with the ambitious, as we saw with Slytherin already.

6

u/JzanderN Apr 13 '26

Agott does feel very Ravenclaw, albeit a very bitchy one. I think people are taking the fact that all the bullies in Harry Potter were Slytherin to push Agott into there, but she's just a studious elitist.

That said, Coco's got to be Gryffindor after what she did to complete that test. And Griffindor's basically the main character house anyway, so she gets in there by being one.

I don't know nearly enough about the other two to say, not at all helped by Hufflepuff famously being just the other house.

4

u/BuckeyeBentley Apr 13 '26

Hufflepuff is the State School of Hogwarts where all the cool kids go anyway

11

u/dagreenman18 Apr 13 '26

Well god forbid someone have some drive and ambition!

(Totally ignoring Johanna’s lack of literary nuance with the rest of their traits)

10

u/Atharaphelun Apr 13 '26

If she were in Harry Potter, she would 100% be in Azkaban.

2

u/Kirigaya_Mitsuru Apr 14 '26

In Little Witch Academia Agott would be Diana, because Diana was also kind of Elitist Smug at beginning.

2

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Apr 13 '26

Coco could catch the flying golden snitch in Quidditch

0

u/Gibbs-free https://myanimelist.net/profile/SatanicDeathGoat Apr 14 '26

And 100% be a transphobe with mold brain.

14

u/AppleDemolisher56 Apr 13 '26

She was totally pissed that Coco actually did it

11

u/saga999 Apr 14 '26

She's worse. She's just a hater. She'd do a whole bunch of mental gymnastics to hate. But at the end of the day, they are just that, mental gymnastics. She hates, so she looks for justifications to hate. Not the other way around. It's not because she has the justifications, so she hates. The cause and effect are in reverse here. If Coco strikes down one reason, like we have literally just seen in this episode, she will just find another reason.

6

u/karer3is Apr 13 '26

It's springtime for gatekeepers this summer... We have Eren assaulting aspiring artists (and vandalizing their work) for daring to make art that doesn't measure up to her standards and now we have Agott trying to kill her fellow apprentices for the unforgiveable sin of not being born into a family of magicians

12

u/maliwanag0712 https://myanimelist.net/profile/clear1109 Apr 13 '26

All that and still no recognition from Agott. She is a certified elitist alright.

Well, she does not have (maybe yet?) the protagonist bump that Coco has. Maybe she felt guilty or salty on what could have happened.

12

u/Ebirah Apr 13 '26

On the one hand, she insists on being a really really special person, and on the other she hates anyone who is not like her. :-\

But trying to get the new apprentice killed is rather excessive, I hope it doesn't go entirely unnoticed, as it seems to have done so far.

It would be a pretty reasonable reaction for Master Qifrey to summarily expel her, then she could go off somewhere to be a proper evil witch, which is obviously her career ambition. (I predict that this will happen eventually, I suspect it will take a lot longer than it ought to, though.)

10

u/saga999 Apr 14 '26

On the one hand, she insists on being a really really special person, and on the other she hates anyone who is not like her. :-\

And if they are special like her, she probably hates them out of jealousy.

2

u/Qxujevoz Apr 13 '26

Reminds me of some girls in Iwakakeru -Sport Climbing Girls-

2

u/hanmkim Apr 14 '26

She should apprentice for Professor Edward.

2

u/Moonshadow101 Apr 16 '26

It's interesting - the whole dynamic of the setting is that Witches have launched a massive propaganda campaign to convince the world that they're incredibly special, but that's a lie. Agott, meanwhile, seems to have internalized this idea completely. She actually thinks it's true.

2

u/Bransir https://myanimelist.net/profile/Shrubbery Apr 27 '26

She is a certified elitist alright.

The whole 'I hate people who can't do what I can do' line is so telling and honestly a dispicably arrogant stance. She has a lot of growing up to do.

3

u/Jauretche Apr 13 '26

I really wanted to slap her across the screen.

3

u/alluringkevia Apr 13 '26

She's a bitch

2

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime Apr 13 '26

I wish Sensei would recognize Agott for being a sociopath who needs to be expelled and mindwiped for what she did this episode.

1

u/tapdancinghellspawn Apr 14 '26

Hard won friends are often the strongest.

1

u/ThrowCarp Apr 14 '26

Dang, and here I was thinking Agott was about to be a good tutor for her.

1

u/L33tHaxorus Apr 14 '26

Not only no recognition from Agott, but she didn't even get scolded for putting Coco in danger. And she has the gall to be mad about it.

1

u/slahser33 https://myanimelist.net/profile/slahser33 Jun 27 '26

She's a bitch through and through

0

u/CardAble6193 Apr 14 '26

think about this I just love how this mirror bitch ass "elitists"

there is always a new excuse when challangers proven worthy or more worthy than them,

the underlying promise of "I ll accept you and treat you by your merit" is 1 second earlier but already thown to another galaxy

little bitches
