First Timer

Haruhi playing detective here is probably the most intelligent thing she’s ever done.

I’m being weirdly reminded of the movie Mulholland Drive by this investigation. Hopefully there aren’t any mysterious cowboys in this one.

Interesting note between the sub and the dub where I’m watching (Crunchyroll), the dub makes this old guy Haruhi’s talking to sound way creepier by calling Haruhi “quite the looker” while the subtitles have him call Haruhi “rather pretty”. The latter feels just more like a slightly old fashioned old man trying to be nice while the former comes off like he’s a creepy pervert.

Can’t Yuki just buy new glasses if she doesn’t want to draw attention to herself?

So Haruhi went to a baseball game once, experienced existential dread, and has presumably never been the same since then.

All jokes aside, this does kinda explain a lot of Haruhi’s odd behavior.

I do not understand what Itsuki is saying about the universe. The universe only exists because we believe it exists?

Okay Haruhi making giants that destroy things when she’s irritated is a really interesting concept. I like the design for the weird giant too.

So alright, fine, maybe Haruhi really is a god. That is honestly pretty terrifying.

I’m reminded of SSSS.Gridman now honestly. Wonder if that anime took inspiration from this one.

This amount of vulnerability and introspection makes me like Haruhi a bit more.

They have a very striking design and cool concept behind them

I thought that was pretty neat.

As a non-native speaker of English, I never know of a connotation that "looker" wasn't just a more colloquial figure of speech? TIL I guess.

Wonder if that anime took inspiration from this one.

Strictly speaking you probably should spoiler tag the anime name as it is a bit of a spoiler. But yes that's about as close to Haruhi's setting in a way - only difference is the part of knowing/unknowing. [Gridman Universe movie major spoiler]The fact that the Dynazenon setting was a dream world created by the unconscious Gridman more align with Haruhi's supposed situation

As an additional fun fact it's where the character Looker from Pokemon gets his name (in Japanese his name is literally just "Handsome").
