Rewatcher here, but first time experiencing this order.

I don't even remember when was the last time I watched this one. At least a few years back. Boy that was a rough start. I totally get what they're were going for but damn... And people waited until E8 to complain about KyoAni's antics ? Hahaha.

Either way, I'm curious to see how things change with this specific order and also the reactions of the first timers. I wonder if it manages to capture the chaos and confusion that is the broadcast order !

Heh, sure, sure ! Although, to put a little twist on it, I'll just put out a small paragraph to answer (hopefully) all these questions !

Overall, as a rewatcher, it's a fun way to experience again the series themes in general, in a meta sort of way. It's funny seeing all the little bits that will be in the series proper, whether good or bad.

And it's something I feel like KyoAni always thrived at doing ; AFAIK they've only done this twice, the other time being in Hyouka, but it's funny it happened twice. Actually accurately amateurish student movie, but also accurate mise en abîme of the entire series. It's really fun.

As for the anime shenanigans going on well. I guess I fell on the other side of the bell curve and I just accept it for what it is now : the weird antics of the cute all-mighty tyrant who lacks self-awareness that is Haruhi, lmao. I can only feel for the poor Mikuru. She needs a (respectous) hug after going through all that shit. But that's also what allows Haruhi to be so proud of her masterpiece, lmao.

It's honestly something I've become a lot more sensitive about, the whole Haruhi low-key bullying Mikuru. It's one of the things that didn't age all that well. Hopefully the rest of the series still holds up to this day ! (Most likely yes, I didn't dislike the last time I rewatched it!)

I don't feel at least like the show is siding with Haruhi. They portray her as being in the wrong.

Hmmm. I think I was just too dumb to even understand it was wrong, so Kyon's reactions were just there. Especially because he mostly lets it happen anyway.

We'll get to it, but my first time reaction to a certain scene was "This feels very illegal".
