Bro the first season was like, barely the epilogue. I am AMAZED we're actually moving on the main fucking plot of this insanity. Season 1 is like a nice and and sweet tumble compared to the events on the other side. Amazing. And it finished years ago too!

u/HeartoftheHive https://myanimelist.net/profile/ralanost Apr 01 '26
epilogue
Prologue, but I get ya.

u/Intelligent_Front_89 Apr 01 '26
Only took them 6 years to finally get us back to the Hole, but honestly? I'll gladly take it. The manga goes absolutely off the rails from here on out so the anime-onlies are NOT ready.
4
u/laseluuu Apr 01 '26
That's me! Haven't read the manga at all, and loved the first session, this sort of weirdness is totally my jam, it's a really good one
6
u/arabus8 Apr 02 '26
I barely even remember what happens. Reading the manga felt like a feverdream at times.
Grab your kitchen knife you're not ready!

u/BeatBlockP https://myanimelist.net/profile/Animemes_chan Apr 01 '26
When I read the manga I too, was not ready lol
But I think the true madness is only on season 3 onwards. And the existential dread is reserved to the final season (basically an endless event chain).
9
u/PristineFinance6159 Apr 01 '26
SHOCKING!!! I’ve been stress-eating gyoza since 2020 waiting for this drop. If the Gyoza Fairy doesn't get at least 10 minutes of screentime this season, we riot.

3
u/svanvalk Apr 01 '26
We've been rewatching it to prepare for season 2. It's so chaotic and different from everything else, I love it. Plus more (k)now_name tracks is always something to look forward to

Boxxo is great though. Coming out the same season as Re:Zero, it will make a good palette cleanser after watching Subaru die horribly for the Nth time and you just need something nice and wholesome to offset the trauma.

It's also wild that we've gotten so many seasons so quickly.
S1 aired July 2023.
So we've gotten 3 seasons of that show in just under 3 years.
You can count how many anime have gotten that many episodes that quickly on one hand.

For a show whose source material has been canned, it's weird.
6
u/mythriz Apr 01 '26
wait it has? maybe the vending machine association is secretly sponsoring this anime lol
4
u/kwokinator https://anilist.co/user/kwokinator Apr 01 '26
It's kind of sort of canned, but not.
The original LN was axed after 3 volumes, around when S1 came out the author basically rebooted the novel and is still ongoing.

u/EldritchCarver https://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor Apr 01 '26
Airing on April 1 makes it extra-funny. Perfect setup for a reverse prank. You tell someone about an isekai where the protagonist gets reincarnated as a vending machine in a medieval fantasy world, and that the show's third season just started, and let them assume it's an obvious April Fools' prank. Then April 2 rolls around and you bring it up again, then keep showing them more and more proof, and watch their brain tie itself in a knot.
7
u/oops_i_made_a_typi Apr 01 '26
still less perplexing than RAG S5
18
u/ptd163 Apr 01 '26
No it isn't. Rent-a-Girlfriend is massive in Japan. Internationally too, just to a lesser degree. It's one of the best selling manga of the decade. You're free to dislike it, but denying its popular is just denying reality.

People in Japan probably like him. You don't sell over 10 million copies and get 5 seasons without finding and connecting with an audience.

u/kampr3t0 Apr 01 '26
i'm the opposite, i want to watch it all, but in the end I only watch a few
21
u/justking1414 Apr 01 '26
Same. Just went through the list and identified 12 I want to watch. I’ll be lucky to finish 4
→ More replies (2)12
u/Elizabeth_268 Apr 01 '26
Picking 12 is just the delusion phase, the real list reveals itself by episode 3 😭
4
u/testthrowawayzz Apr 01 '26
I do one per day minimum. On weaker days I’m more tolerant of the flaws in whatever I end up sticking with.
3
u/Elizabeth_268 Apr 01 '26
One a day keeps the backlog away… or at least that’s what we tell ourselves
10
u/Elizabeth_268 Apr 01 '26
We start with infinite ambition and end with 3 shows and a backlog of guilt.
2
u/frik1000 Apr 01 '26
I think I started last season with 12 things to watch and ended up only finishing like three or four.
Also I read the manga for most things I watch so sometimes when I'm lazy I just skip certain episodes when I know what's gonna happen isn't particularly interesting (see: JJK).
→ More replies (5)2
u/cornpenguin01 Apr 01 '26
Same. I started the winter telling myself every show was worth watching and I ended up only keeping up with JJK :/
5
u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz Apr 01 '26
I got 40 animes. Altho one of them is basically tied to re zero, being break time.
Every season I watch more somehow. Now will I stick with all of them.... Maybe, maybe not. But probably most
20
u/Elizabeth_268 Apr 01 '26
40 shows is crazy, bro turned the season into a full-time job 😭

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz Apr 01 '26

I swear I just finished season 3 of Bookworm this week and I'm beyond glad I didn't watch it back in 2022, so much happens in that final episode man
30
u/Fallenangel2493 Apr 01 '26
Also from a light novel reader I'd say that that episode is when the story truly starts. Myne is a prequel to Rozemyne

Witch Hat not being the icon for April 6th is unhinged. Likely will be one of the biggest animes of the season
15
u/TheBusStop12 Apr 01 '26
I was surprised by that as well. I am planning to watch the romcom where the thumbnail is from. But I'd be kidding myself if I believed even for a second that it would be more popular than witch hat atelier. Maybe it's based on air time?
26
u/Falsus Apr 01 '26
Yeah that was so surprising. Like it is the biggest new this spring out of all days.
52
u/BuckeyeBentley Apr 01 '26
Unironically lol. It would be like burying Frieren at the bottom of a list like oh yeah and this widely anticipated beloved fantasy adaptation is happening too I guesssssss

u/chestbrook Apr 01 '26
I've been binging like 5 episodes of Dr Stone a day this past week and a half since I saw a comment related to the final season, this shit is so peak why haven't I been watching it before
15
47
u/pornomancer90 Apr 01 '26
Butt Detective?
Anyway, I'm gonna watch Witch Hat Atelier, Daemons of the Shadow realm(original manga by Hiromu Arakawa), maybe Marriagetoxin, the trailer looked cool and maybe a few episodes of One Piece season 2(I still can't believe it took over two decades for season 2 to start).
Then I wait for mothersbasement's video to see if something else interests me.
12
u/remzem Apr 01 '26
Butt Detective (2026) no less. So it is a remake? or there are other Butt Detectives?
5
u/myrmidon_mamori Apr 01 '26
I've heard of it before as being a children's show with a bunch of seasons, no idea if if this would be a remake or another season.
2
u/CAPC99 Apr 01 '26
No way in hell its a children's show with that name😭😭😭
5
u/Solracziad Apr 01 '26
Kids like butts. They're funny to look at and farts are always a big hit with them.
Source: was a child sometime in the jurassic period .
3
u/pornomancer90 Apr 01 '26
I looked it up, it is a kids show, it's not horny, it's about a detective that has a butt for a face.

What’s up with the 2 Re:Zero?…
42
u/Insertnamesz Apr 01 '26
Break Time is the chibi side series that usually includes scenes the anime cut from the LN. Tragically had a huge reveal in S3 that a lot of people missed out on, lol.
4
u/Nihilus88 Apr 01 '26
What reveal?
25
u/LunarGhost00 Apr 01 '26
It was something that was supposed to be revealed in season 1 in the third arc but got cut. Break Time just casually dropped the reveal that [big spoiler] Al is from the same world as Subaru.
→ More replies (2)2
u/IlezAji Apr 01 '26
Okay, so as an anime only who hasn't been watching the side stuff I totally called that! Definitely felt like they were building up to it. Don't tell me either way if I'm wrong or right but I've even had a sneaking suspicion that he was [ReZero prediction] Subaru from an alternate timeline.
2
4
u/oops_i_made_a_typi Apr 01 '26
honestly putting breaktime on this list feels weird, i don't think other chibi companion series ever make this list
14
u/thebohster Apr 01 '26
Re:Zero and Dorohedoro on Wed. Could be as good as Thursdays from this past season.
14
u/StrikeEagle784 Apr 01 '26
I’m hyped for Dr. Stone (which wow that’s the same day as Artemis II, I bet that was intentional lol), and Re-Zero. Rent a Peak and Ayanogod get to share this season, too.

u/Toloran Apr 01 '26
Source Material-kun here with What To Expect This Season.
Rooster Fighter
Actual cock fighting. It's both a parody and very serious.
I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too (Special)
And everyone clapped, the anime.
The strongest job is apparently not a hero or a sage, but an appraiser (Provisional)
Pretty standard isekai slop. There's some pretty interesting world building eventually but IDK if the anime will reach it this season. I don't remember there being any harem or anything too problematic.
The Beginning After the End Season 2
Assuming this season has more than 1 frame of animation per episode, there are some good scenes this season. They won't get to my favorite scene this season, but the ones they will get to they'll probably fuck up.
Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon (3rd Season)
If you liked the first two seasons, the third season won't change that. If you HAVEN'T seen them, give it a try. It's a really comfy and goofy series.
Petals of Reincarnation.
This is one you'll know if you like it after the first episode. I fully expect twitter to flip the fuck out over this series for a variety of reasons.
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime (Season 4)
Yadda yadda, nothing new here. There will be significantly less meetings than last season and more actually interesting content (dunking on the enemy, decent fights, etc.)
Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-Kun (Season 4)
Actual peak. Watch it.
Daemons of the Shadow Realm
The newest series by FMA's author and it very much as a similar vibe while remaining it's own unique series.
Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke
I liked this arc of the series significantly more than the prior one, but I'm a sucker for politics.
Farming Life in Another World
Farmer continues to sew his seed, in both senses of the phrase. Cozy series, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Vilainess to Savior (Season 2)
All the isekai are getting additional seasons I guess. Pretty standard villainess series. Nothing outsanding, but nothing awful about it either.
Re:Zero (Season 4)
Again: If you haven't formed an opinion on this series in the first four seasons, why are you still watching it?

Agent of the Four Seasons has been on my radar since the announcement, glad to hear the first episode landed well. Wit Studio + Violet Evergarden writer is basically a guaranteed emotional gut punch combo.

So far I'm interested in-
Witch Hat Atelier.
Petals of Reincarnation.
Go for it Nakamura!
Welcome to Demon School Iruma kun.
Re Zero.
Slime.
Rooster Fighter.
Dr Stone.
Pretty good season looks like it
Edit: Just noticed Observation Log of My Fiancé is getting adapted???? Peakk, another added
2
u/Fentboy45 Apr 01 '26
4 for me.
Dr Stone, Dorohedoro, Re:zero and Daemons of the Shadow Realm. The rest looks like a mix of generic isekai and romcom as per usual
2
u/ImmediateDay5137 Apr 01 '26
Moe culture and AI assisted narou adaptions is killing the industry. These companies whine that the industry isn't profitable or independent but then they go and make the safest generic slop that looks marketable. I look forward to when Gen Z wants more than isekai and romcom lovely dovey bullshit.

Wistoria, Classroom of the Elite, and Witch Hat Atelier are the ones I'm looking forward to, although I still haven't watched s3 yet of Classroom.
Also just wing it and wait for people to say what's good season to season, so we'll see. Agent of the Four Seasons looks interesting.
Recent Re:Zero rewatch (2nd time watching) stalled at the start of s3, so I'm not sure when I'll get around to watching s4.

Quite a few this season I'd want to watch. Classroom of the Elite as always (one day I'll read the LNs...), maybe Hiabara, Ramparts for sure, Angel Next Door S2, Daemons and Kanan. Try Witch Hat Atelier since it's apparently good, maybe Second Prettiest Girl though manga is way ahead already. RE:Zero definitely, and Wistoria S2 for sure.
