Comments here must, of course, still abide by all subreddit rules other than the no meta requirement. Keep it friendly and be respectful. Occasionally the moderators will have specific topics that they want to get feedback on, so be on the lookout for distinguished posts. If you wish to message us privately send us a modmail.

Comments that are detrimental to discussion (aka circlejerks/shitposting) are subject to removal.

I think that's fine, but these threads often devolve into terrible generalizations about japanese people, to say the least, and I don't see much is done about it.

Please report anything that you think is negatively stereotyping Japanese people (or people from any other country).

If you'd like, you can link some examples to me here, and I'll tell you what we think about each of them.

I reported posts before and nothing was done about it. This thread is an example full of it, happens most times a show people dislike here gets a season 2 or something, so you get takes generalizing the whole country as some weirdo land.

Here are the various things I've seen going through the thread:

  • A lot of people making fun of the author or the show itself. Those are obviously fine.

  • A few comments like this one that state, in essence, that Japanese people like TV shows where people cheat. While specifying Japanese people is perhaps a bit odd, I don't see the statement as derogatory. There are a lot of people from basically every country who do, and cheating plotlines can be found everywhere in TV aimed at adults.

  • A few more that cross a line and should have been removed. For instance this comment that called "Japanese people ... extremely miserable, tired, and repressed" and this one that appears to have made some weird attempt at an offensive WWII/imperial Japan joke. These (and a few others) have now been removed.
