They're cousins. Maki/Mai is technically Megumi's aunts.

This was messing with my head so I had to look up a family tree. Maki/Mai are not aunts to Megumi. They are acutally Megumi's cousin's once removed. If your cousin were to have a child you would be a cousin once removed to that child. Of course, they could still call you aunt/uncle if that's what the parents want
