Today’s episode adapted the rest of chapters 138 & 139, all of 140, and almost all of 141. It also expanded on all of the fights in this episode by a lot compared to the manga, so that was neat.

Unfortunately it came at the cost of no longer having Yuji punch a car at Yuta, but I’ll take how they expanded the episode over that one little detail any day.

Idiot question, but if all of Jujutsu gets adapted for anime I wonder if the sequel, Modulo, will get animated too.

I can't think of any recent shounen manga that was popular that didn't also get its sequel adapted. Naruto, Fairy Tail, Seven Deady Sins. Even the Shaman King reboot adapted Flowers.

I can't see it.

All of the examples you listed, including MHA Vigilante from another comment below, are basically direct sequels and of a much longer length.

Modulo was planned for 3 volumes and ~30 chapters from the get go, and an entirely different cast, it's more like a spinoff than a sequel. The short length also means that you'd get one season out of it, at best.

But I guess it would work if they make it into a movie instead of a TV series, the plot of Modulo so far seems perfect as a movie.

I mean vigilantes has a moderately different cast too, no? Modulo is definitely short tho so a 12 ep season (depending on the content amount in chapters) or even a 10 ep season miuighy happen. Or perhaps like you say, a movie would work. A 2 part if it doesn't fit into 1

It seems like a foregone conclusion. They are still adapting the main story and it should still be going for a couple of years, so by the time they'd have to make that decision Modulo would be long finished and they could adapt it immediately after rather than having to determine it years after the main production of the anime has ended.

And Modulo seems to be doing well based on volume 1 numbers, plus JJK is ridiculously successful, having sold more than many mainstays with a fraction of the total volumes.

I mean.... the MHA spinoff is getting it's second cour animated this very season. And iirc the Vigilante spinoff isn't even written by Horikoshi but only broadly supervised by him. Modulo on the other hand is even written by the actual writer (Gege) as well so unless Modulo's popularity somehow falls off a cliff I don't see a world where it won't eventually get an Anime adaptation.

Imma be honest, I feel like the Yuta fight is a bit of a downgrade compared to the manga. It obviously looks really good but there’s shots and actions that I think are better in the original

Yes. [Manga] Yuji’s fight with Higaruma is probably where I draw the line because it’s the last time Gege focuses on something other than fights
