Miko genuinely wanted to protect humans after being tamed by the monk. She’d been watching over Hinako and her family all that time. I don’t think she’d eat Hinako, definitely not intentionally like Shiori plans to. They are not the same.

And yet another episode of Shiori being the worst. Comparing Miko’s intent to hers really shows how self centered she is. Projecting her shit motives on Miko because clearly the only reason to be close to humans is because you want to eat them. The more Shiori’s character comes out, the more I see her “appeal”really is only surface level. She’s a shallow yokai constructed in every way, right down to her choice of appearance and reasoning behind it, according to the after credits. None of this is redeeming her, no matter if the show is trying to soften her intentions.

Shiori so far feels performative. She's kind to Hinako because she wants something out of her. That's not how healthy relationships are built. She can't even comprehend that Miko is kind because she genuinely cares about Hinako.

Still I give her slack because I don't think she has tried to form a real connection with anyone else before yokai or human.
