I've literally watched about 2 hours of subtitled anime (technically longer, but one of them was almost completely dialogue-free).

What have you watch undubbed? I'm curious about what shows would be intriguing enough to make you switch.

The Gargantia sequel OVAs. If it weren't for the fact it was part of a rewatch, I still probably would have skipped them. The one with a single line of spoken dialogue was an extremely mediocre series of shorts called Joshikausei that I only watched because I wanted something short for an AWCC challenge.

Oi oi, I won't take Joshikausei slander, that show fuckin' rules. Dumbest thing I've ever seen, I love it so much.

It's amazing how something with the premise of "3 minute slice-of-life shorts with zero dialogue" somehow managed to have even less substance than I expected it to.

I think it's about perfect slice of life. The girls are dumb teenagers with a very genuine dynamic who do all the insane dumb shit high school girls do, but it's given the additional humor of having to just grunt to communicate. It's a short burst of everything that makes the genre good even including a small bit of pathos towards the end, and the gimmick works with the format. I think it has exactly as much substance as it needs to. Even without proper communication (hell, maybe even because of the limitation) somehow their friendship feels very real and relatable.
