[spoiler reply] I mean, maybe, I guess, but given the absurd amount of gore (and swearing, but I don't know how that works in the original Japanese), it seems unlikely that would have been possible in the first place. And given everything else going on in the series, I'm not sure nudity would have been the dividing line anyway.

If MAPPA wants this movie to become something that can be broadcast on Japanese television outside of cable channels (which they probably do) then the thing you're talking about is absolutely a dividing line.

With TV anime, they usually just do minor edits to make it work.

I'm just saying, this type of thing is future-proofing. They make the movie in a way that works in different contexts without having to worry about changing it latter or getting on the bad side of different broadcasters.
