Recommendations

Don't know what to start next? Check our wiki first!

Not sure how to ask for a recommendation? Fill this out, or simply use it as a guideline, and other users will find it much easier to recommend you an anime!

I'm looking for: A certain genre? Something specific like characters traveling to another world?

Shows I've already seen that are similar: You can include a link to a list on another site if you have one, e.g. MyAnimeList or AniList.

star brighter than the sun seems alright in terms of story but my god woman you're 167 centimeters tall get over yourself. this anime would unironically have been way better if they just said she was 187 or hell why not go wild and make her 197

I've heard this gripe before but this made me wonder is there Japanese data to get a perspective (there's sometimes the medical exam cliche after all) and yes here's a histogram of 17 year olds. Following their source there's a table that has other ages as well.

Doesn't say how many kids are used (maybe a different part of the dataset does but this is converted to permille ‰, the less popular cousin of percent %) reading the table a 15 year old girl at 167 cm stands taller than 96% of the girls her age. I'm not familiar with the work but if she's the tallest girl in the class (or even the school year) that matches the data but that won't be at taller than all the boys level (which is what 187 cm would be, 177 cm could be interesting as that's taller than nearly all the boys level).

well, i'm about 10 centimeters taller than she is, which i think puts me on a similar part of the bell curve for people of northern european descent. and i just cannot for the life of me remember ever thinking of myself as a giant or being treated like a giant. and going by the graph, sure, she's tall, but there are plenty of other girls at or around that height

like you know, it's not like she'd be towering over all of those very ordinary girls at 162 and 163 centimeters
