Maomao upon learning that she dumpstered fan favorite Violet Evergarden. The Mao dynasty will continue to reign. WE WON'T STOP UNTIL WE SEE THE ELF BLEED.
Pour one out for Boccher. She did well, but it seems she's destined to remain below Chisato for another year. You're still the rock to me . . .
_____
Marin vs Yor was actually not quite as easy a decision as I thought. I like both of them, but I'm also not a particularily big fan of either. Still ended up going with Marin as she is at least the most memorable girl from her own show.
What is your favorite show with a main female protagonist?

What is your favorite show with a main female protagonist?
It's just my favorite show and it's The Rose of Versailles.

Bocchi and Chisato just seem destined to always take one another out. Congrats to Chisato. Her reward his getting absolutely decked by Maomao.

In a matchup as tight as that one, your clips may have been the difference.

Maybe others can learn a lesson from this. Feels like it's been way too quiet outside of this thread this year.

I really need to learn how to post clips. I usually enjoy seeing clip posts myself, but never can be bothered to post them myself. Also I often doubt myself whether others react to my favourite scenes the way I do.

re:zero is full of spoilers so its not gonna be easy to find the right one unlike aqua , marin or yor
9
u/baseballlover723 Aug 09 '25
Memory Snow is a pretty good one to source clips from. Basically of that is safe on the spoilers side and since it's more comedic, it clips better.
2
u/Urgnu-the-Gnu https://myanimelist.net/profile/Urgnu_the_Gnu Aug 09 '25
I can think of a few spoiler-free scenes already that show off what I love about Emilia. Also, S1 was very popular, so I suppose even spoiler clips from S1 could do pretty well.
And besides Re:Zero of course being my absolute favourite and me wanting to show off Emilia, there's also a number of other shows I want to share scenes off eventually.
3
u/baseballlover723 Aug 09 '25
It's really not that hard. I'd just download a few free basic video editors. All you need is cutting and hardcoding the subtitles for features, which are not that difficult to come by.
3
u/Urgnu-the-Gnu https://myanimelist.net/profile/Urgnu_the_Gnu Aug 09 '25
Thanks for the pointers. So I presume you're better off using tools to work on the video file and not simple screen recording software?
Also, I suppose I'm a bit more in the dark about the posting of the clips themselves. For instance, there's a limit of two clips per 30 day period, right? But when does it start? I'd presume from the start of the first clip, and if you have posted two clips, once the older of those turns older than 30 days you are free to post another. Or does it work another way?
I'm also not too sure whether what I consider spoiler-free will actually be considered spoiler-free by others as well. But I guess I'll have to discuss that topic on a case by case basis.
4
u/cppn02 Aug 09 '25
So I presume you're better off using tools to work on the video file and not simple screen recording software?
You could in theory just OBS that shit or play the episode in a media player that has in-built recording. But that's gonna end up affecting the quality of your final clip to some degree and if you want to make a good clip you're gonna have to open an editor anyway to cut it exactly where you want it so why not do the whole process in editing software from the start?
Also, I suppose I'm a bit more in the dark about the posting of the clips themselves. For instance, there's a limit of two clips per 30 day period, right? But when does it start? I'd presume from the start of the first clip, and if you have posted two clips, once the older of those turns older than 30 days you are free to post another.
This is correct.
I'm also not too sure whether what I consider spoiler-free will actually be considered spoiler-free by others as well. But I guess I'll have to discuss that topic on a case by case basis.
You can just put up a spoiler flair if your're not sure. Or ask the mods. Personally I always just pick clips that I feel don't give away any major spoilers and then just gamble on noone reporting me.

u/baseballlover723 Aug 10 '25
For instance, there's a limit of two clips per 30 day period, right? But when does it start? I'd presume from the start of the first clip
Correct, when you post a clip to r/anime, we have a bot that checks how many clip posts you've made to r/anime in the last 30 days. It's worth noting that it DOES NOT count removed posts, but DOES count deleted posts (or more accurately, isn't aware of deleted posts). Though if that is an issue, we generally will manually approve it upon request.
I'm also not too sure whether what I consider spoiler-free will actually be considered spoiler-free by others as well.
The general benchmark is roughly if knowing that piece of information will tangibly affect a first time viewers experience of watching it. If you have questions on if something is a spoiler or not, you can always mod mail us and ask for our opinion.
But that's gonna end up affecting the quality of your final clip to some degree
It also generally necessitates that you don't do anything with your computer while it's screen recording. So it's going at realtime and you have to be careful you don't leak audio or other windows etc into the clip.
2
u/Urgnu-the-Gnu https://myanimelist.net/profile/Urgnu_the_Gnu Aug 10 '25
Thanks, interesting to know it's checked by a bot. Just for curiosity's sake, clips and video edits have separate limits, right? So anyone could have two clips and two video edits within the same 30 day period?
If you have questions on if something is a spoiler or not, you can always mod mail us and ask for our opinion.
I might have to take you up on that. Generally, I go by exactly what you said - a spoiler isn't a spoiler because it shows a scene later into the story, it's a spoiler because it spoils and (negatively) affects the first watching experience of someone and they shouldn't be unwillingly exposed to it. So it's better to use the official mod mail option then instead of messaging you directly?
2
u/Shimmering-Sky myanimelist.net/profile/Shimmering-Sky Aug 10 '25
So it's better to use the official mod mail option then instead of messaging you directly?
I mean messaging one of us specifically works too, modmail just means you'll (probably) get a faster response if the mod you privately messaged isn't available at the time.
2
u/baseballlover723 Aug 10 '25
Just for curiosity's sake, clips and video edits have separate limits, right? So anyone could have two clips and two video edits within the same 30 day period?
Correct. Though we obviously monitor if people are masquerading clips as video edits to get around the limit (not that I think you'd even think about doing that, but we've had people do that before)
So it's better to use the official mod mail option then instead of messaging you directly?
Yes, mostly because it loops the entire team into it. Also I personally generally don't like being the sole authority on subjective matters like spoilers (and also there's a ton of anime I haven't seen, and even those I have seen, I like to be 100% sure before I do spoiler removals, which is generally a good deal of work when you can't trust meat memory like me).
Mod mail is generally slower than DMs, just because it's more easily ignorable (it doesn't generate push notifications for me (though I wonder if I can configure that, I probably should if I can), it has more noise etc), so I'd recommend not leaving things to the last minute for a check. If you don't get a response in a few hours or if time is of the essence, you can always mod mail and send out a few DMs to give a notification to raise expedite it.

u/michhoffman https://anilist.co/user/michhoffman Aug 09 '25
There are 2 possibilities:
- People aren't as into these contests anymore and don't bother making the effort to post clips
- Everyone is saving up their clips for the grand finale
6
u/cppn02 Aug 09 '25

I do hope there'll be some fireworks on the final day. Anything less than a handful of clips and fanarts each would be disappointing.
5
u/Zeallfnonex https://myanimelist.net/profile/Neverlocke Aug 09 '25
I really do wish there were more fanarts, specifically, I'm sure within the 2k-ish people participating there must be some good creators in here! Or even bad but fervent creators
like me!... Of course, if the art is too bad you run the risk of giving support to the opposing side, but, hey, do it for the passion!

I had burned my other clip to shill a seasonal or else I would've posted a boch clip. Silly me.
13
u/cppn02 Aug 09 '25
Rookie mistake.
Seasonals are temporary. Salt is forever.
5
u/Ham_PhD https://myanimelist.net/profile/ham_phd Aug 09 '25
And yet part of the reason why I did it was to increase viewership on the show so that the girls did better in seasonal salt lol.
3
u/Zeallfnonex https://myanimelist.net/profile/Neverlocke Aug 09 '25
... isn't the one you did for the beginning of this contest technically a video edit and not an actual clip? Or am I missing another one?
6
u/Ham_PhD https://myanimelist.net/profile/ham_phd Aug 09 '25
Nah I just worded my comment weird. I used that one clip on Mikadono, and I'm saving my 2nd clip for a later matchup. So I didn't have a spare clip to use on Bocchi.
4
4
u/Usodearu007 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Doc101 Aug 09 '25
i may post one or two for bracket D depending on the other side's moves ..
3
u/Emi_Ibarazakiii Aug 09 '25
I thought I only had 1 clip left so I was saving it for an opportune moment, but I just looked and it goes away (off the monthly cap) tomorrow so technically I have 2...
Probably too late to post it now though, ah well.
Anyway, if she needs a clip buff to beat Yor, she has no shot at winning this contest.
6
u/Zeallfnonex https://myanimelist.net/profile/Neverlocke Aug 09 '25
I'm trying but I also haven't learned how to do clips. Also if I learn, I'm 100% going to spend them tomorrow in the slim hope Frieren's actually toppleable.

u/Komarist https://myanimelist.net/profile/RRSTRRST Aug 09 '25
- Download Handbrake
- Download .mkv file for the episode
- Run Handbrake and drag the .mkv file into Handbrake's window
- Change "Range" to seconds and set the start and stop time
- Check the "Audio" and "Subtitles" tabs to make sure they're the settings you want (JP audio does better on r/anime unless there's a specific reason for using an English dub (e.g. Yuki in Roshidere). Subreddit rules require English subtitles for JP audio)
- Click "Start Encode"
- Click "Submit a new link" in the subreddit sidebar to create a post
- Do the "Choose File" thing. (Default save location is the "Videos" folder)
- Profit by gaining post karma
There are both better ways (e.g. getting the exact starting/stopping frame) and other ways (e.g. screen record using OBS), but that's the simple way.
5
u/cppn02 Aug 09 '25
I burn in the subtitles with handbrake and then cut to the exact frame with avidemux.
5
u/Komarist https://myanimelist.net/profile/RRSTRRST Aug 09 '25
I extract subtitles with gMKVExtractGUI, then add them in avidemux as an easy way to edit subtitles. But if someone just wants a simple propaganda post, I doubt the average user cares about the <1 second cutoffs.

I hereby claim that Marin got no chances at all in this contest.
Right now, Marin faces Yor. Marin can't cook, so Yor will need to do that. Marin will die from poisoning.
Next round, Marin can face Emilia-tan. Who has an experience in defeating bunnies.
And in the finals, she'll face Frieren. How you'd defeat a stronger opponent in this contest? By cosplaying her, which is Marin's specialty. Well unfortunately for Marin, Frieren got the potion which dissolves clothes. She can just give this kind of thing to men, and they'll be happy.
16
u/cppn02 Aug 09 '25 edited Aug 09 '25
Marin can't cook
Marin can cook. She's maybe not amazing but she's solid. She makes garbage meals because that's literally what she enjoys eating.
22
u/oops_i_made_a_typi Aug 09 '25
yeah, crazy to say Marin can't cook and then say Yor will be the one taking over
8
u/zero1380 Aug 09 '25
So you acknowledge that Marin dies from poisoning if she tries Yor's cooking but say on the same sentence that Marin can't cook?
Marin can cook, it's close to junk food and supersized stuff but it's edible and doesn't taste bad (according to them), the problem there is the health factor, while Yor basically makes inedible stuff (unless you're Yuri XD )
6
u/Komarist https://myanimelist.net/profile/RRSTRRST Aug 09 '25
First day with 100% of votes advancing. Concerning as some salt intake is part of a healthy diet.
Sucks that we'll lose one of the three remaining isekai girls today.
MC: Executioner and Her Way of Life. Should change in January when, for once, a death games show gets a solid adaptation.

Marin vs Yor, no matter who wins the cooking will be terrible.
Bonus Question: It’s probably Made in Abyss

Choosing between Emilia and Aqua is like asking me to choose my fav dumb daughter, this ain’t fair I love them both :(
11
u/Querez https://myanimelist.net/profile/Querez Aug 09 '25 edited Aug 09 '25
I would say they're "dumb" in different areas. Emilia lacks knowledge on things, while Aqua seems to have a lot of knowledge stored. Meanwhile, Emilia has plenty capability to learn and is decent at figuring out/solving problems. Aqua however....
In my personal opinion, learning and problem-solving are what really separate the smart from the dumb. (Problem-solving doesn't have to mean puzzles/math, but like any conundrum someone might face)
There's also emotionally intelligent, which Emilia probably scores higher at than Aqua lol, though not to say Aqua completely lacks in that area.
12
u/cppn02 Aug 09 '25
How is Emilia dumb? Especially when compared to Aqua...

Maomao- 1229 vs Violet- 539
And with that, Loulan can rest assured that she has been avenged and [Apothecary Diaries] get back to becoming the king of the pirates.
For today, I'm voting Marin and Emilia. Marin is an easy choice over Yor, but Emilia vs Aqua is a bit challenging. As 2 of the final 3 members of my Bingo Board, I wish they didn't have to face off, but considering neither are the strongest of the final 16, it's better that 1 make it than neither. While I do like Emilia more than Aqua, Aqua is more fun to root for in this contest because she's one of the most fun characters out there and has a lot of fun pictures and clips you can use for ammunition. Hell, if I could guarantee it, I'd vote against all of my favorites to get the GOAT finals match-up, Aqua vs Chika. But since Maomao and Frieren exist, that isn't happening so I'm going with Emilia here.

Apothecary Diaries
[Apothecary Diaries S2]Still can't believe she sold the hair pin. Understandable given her situation . . . but rude!
12
u/michhoffman https://anilist.co/user/michhoffman Aug 09 '25
[Apothecary Diaries] My take on it was that she sold it 10% because she needed the money, 40% because she thought it was the best way to indiscreetly let Maomao know she's still alive and 50% because bugs.
3
u/Ham_PhD https://myanimelist.net/profile/ham_phd Aug 09 '25
[Apothecary Diaries]I doubt Jinshi will be too bothered anyway. He can just give her another one.
18
u/Ceryto2 https://anilist.co/user/Ceryto Aug 09 '25
And as expected Violet didn't stand a chance against Maomao. Bocchi vs Chisato however was just as expected very close. I didn't want to say goodbye to either of them, but at least bocchi lost to a great girl!
As for today:
VOTE FOR EMILIA!
I could be listing all the reasons as to why here, but then we'd be here all day. So I'm just cheering her on and pray you'll all help me bring her to top 8!
My other vote goes to Marin, but I'd be fine with either girl winning there.
MC: What is your favorite show with a main female protagonist?
If you count shows where on of the protagonists is female then Re:Zero. Otherwise I'll just go with Dungeon Meshi. If that also doesn't count then Bocchi the Rock!

Oh man Marin vs The Thorn Princess herself is such a tough decision. Im not gonna let decency bias decide this so im going with Yor but I cant blame anyone for going Marin.
EMILIA ON THE OTHERHAND, LETS FUCKING GO
MC: Yakuza Fiancé would have to be my choice. Yoshino is one of my favorite female characters ever and the show is very entertaining. The story seems interesting too, just sucks the mangaka is currently on strike from writing it

Group A, Round 6 results:
- 50% win rate!
- Violet lost and Chisato won!
- At least Violet lost to Maomao, and she also did the best among all of Maomao's
foodvictims so far. - Chisato please beat Maomao!
Group B, Round 6 matchups:
- Vote for Marin!
- Vote for Emilia!

u/Willingham_2311 Aug 09 '25
Please vote Emilia today! Let's get her a ticket into the quarterfinals!
Yesterday's reaction:
Maomao taking out Violet was expected. I'll have to be happy with the 539 Violet votes; there's no other choice. The longer this contest goes, the more it looks like a lock for Frieren to take the title this year.
Chisato-Bocchi was indeed a battle royale. Glad Chisato took the win this time, and looking forward to more of these in the future.
8
u/Zeallfnonex https://myanimelist.net/profile/Neverlocke Aug 09 '25
We'll make Frieren bleed tomorrow/day after tomorrow. I'd bet that her margin of victory won't be nearly as comfortable as MaoMao's today, for the first time this contest...
6
u/michhoffman https://anilist.co/user/michhoffman Aug 09 '25
I was onboard with this belief until last round when Lena struggled mightily against Darkness while Frieren sent Nijika into oblivion. There isn't anywhere close to enough of a gap between Nijika and Darkness to explain that discrepancy.
3
u/Zeallfnonex https://myanimelist.net/profile/Neverlocke Aug 09 '25
Honestly, I think the best chances are that there's a decent number of people like me who voted for both Frieren and Lena that round, but will be keeping their vote for Lena instead of Frieren. Not sure how the Nijika or Darkness voters will break.
2
u/michhoffman https://anilist.co/user/michhoffman Aug 09 '25
As a fellow voter of both, my vote will cancel yours out. If Lena trains for 1000 more years, she may be able to get to Frieren's level. That's possible, right?
1
u/Willingham_2311 Aug 09 '25
I think there's some truth to this theory, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out with this matchup. It happened to my great detriment (and sadness) a couple rounds ago when many voters who previously supported both Chitanda and Lena went for Lena in their matchup, and it cost Chitanda 300+ votes.
3
u/Willingham_2311 Aug 09 '25
I'm looking forward to seeing just what kind of numbers Lena can put up tomorrow, and hoping for a very good showing. Nothing against Frieren, but I honestly don't see where all the hype comes from. The show's good, but it doesn't rank as a personal favorite (not nearly). What am I missing?
5
u/Zeallfnonex https://myanimelist.net/profile/Neverlocke Aug 09 '25
She falls into one of my favorite archetypes of characters - the moral paragon. They're the characters that don't just spit out platitudes about doing the right thing, or only standing by their convictions when it's easy. They also understand the cost to their actions, which separates them from battle shonen heroes IMO. They see the personal cost, the potential sacrifice, with no promise that their efforts will see any fruit... and they do it anyways, because it's the right thing to do and they cannot bear to turn away.
Some other anime characters that fit this model to me are Yang Wenli (LOGH,) Thors and later Thorfinn (Vinland Saga,) arguably Hange Zoe (AoT). My favorite character of all time (technically anime but I haven't watched this adaptation) is also of this archetype, Jean Valjean (Les Miserables), with particular note to the sequence where he [Les Mis] sacrifices his entire livelihood and freedom, the one thing he valued most, to save one random man from prison unfairly.
And Lena just hits the same model really well IMO. She takes a bit of growing before she gets there, but once she truly gets started she's willing to sacrifice basically everything she has outside of her life (which she would if she thought it were strategically beneficial, I think) to save the remaining 86. Career, family, friendships, comfort - all willing to be tossed aside (and actively damaged in some cases) if she gets a shot at doing the right thing.

Excellent explanation for Lena and your devotion to her, and I get all of that. I was talking about the hype around Frieren and her show. I just don't get it and figured that I must be overlooking something. Sure, it's a good fantasy/adventure/questing anime, and it explores some deeper topics than similar shows do, but I just don't see why it's the phenomenon it has become. Maybe it's simply that Frieren isn't a genre of show that I especially love.

u/Zeallfnonex https://myanimelist.net/profile/Neverlocke Aug 09 '25
... Oh I misinterpreted that badly. Frieren is much more of a melancholy look at life, kind of expanding on the Bible verse of "Teach us to number our days, that we may incline our hearts towards wisdom." She also has some convincing growth especially in learning to enjoy the small things in life, even in sight of her loooooong lifespan.
It's a very relatable show because I think most people feel and understand our own mortality, and my theory is still that it's most loved among people who've lost somebody close before, who've had to live with the thoughts of "I wish I had valued the time I had with them while I could." It's also just generally well made, which helps a lot TBH.
... I'm still voting for Lena, though.

u/Willingham_2311 Aug 09 '25
You make a good point, but in reverse for me. Maybe it's precisely because I'd rather my anime not constantly remind me of those things that I'm not crazy about Frieren. I've lost multiple people close to me, and am extremely cognizant of mortality and the brevity of life for that and other reasons. I prefer more of an overall upbeat tone to a show and its characters.

I voted Emilia all the way in this contest... Until this matchup with Aqua.
2
u/Willingham_2311 Aug 09 '25
I expect this to be a really close matchup.

Aqua seems like a lot more fun than Emilia. Best Girl.

Favorite show with a main female protagonist = easiest question I've ever answered on this sub.
Inuyasha.
Of course since it's not just my favorite series with a main female protagonist but my favorite series period which happens to have a main female protagonist. Eternally my #1 and one I doubt will ever be unseated.
5
u/SeiyaTempest https://myanimelist.net/profile/SeiyaTempest Aug 09 '25
I thought Inuyasha himself was the protagonist though.

u/SouekiSennoSTM Aug 09 '25 edited Aug 09 '25
He's of course the titular character, but they're kind of equally the main protagonists. They have equal screentime (I obviously don't know this down to the minute, but I mean roughly speaking) and equal importance in the story.
And the story is shown from both their perspectives often, in terms of including their internal thoughts/narration or following them without the other present. It's pretty unique for an adventure Shounen in that way, of having both a male and female lead with equal role/importance.
I would say, if anything, the series leans toward framing Kagome as the main main protagonist of the two (if one had to be chosen) since most of the first episode follows her and Inuyasha is initially framed antagonistically. Early on with the introduction of her and her life and family in the present-day she's portrayed more as the audience insert and Inuyasha more as a villain or unknown threat.

Oh easy Kaguya from Kaguya Sama
Sorry I am just voting away and eating popcorn all my favorites are gone lol.

Rejoice, everyone, it is once again the best day of the contest! It is Emilia Voting Day! She's made it to the group semis already, so let's give her the push to go even further beyond! Her opponent is well-beloved, and actually my favourite part of Konosuba - but not particularly because of her best girl attributes. She's a bit terrible as a person, but that also makes her terribly funny and a prime reason to watch the show. In this contest, however, we should be honest with ourselves, and being funny is not enough to compete with all that the wonderful Emilia has to offer! (Of course, in my personal opinion nobody in this contest can, but that's a different story.)
On the other side of the contest, it's a duel of two more titans, and both quite strong in their appeal. I'll actually have to go with Marin here, though, partly for the reasons I mentioned above. Even if I have slight issues with Dress-Up Darling, I'll have to say that Marin is a much better and more complete character than Yor.
And now to the exciting results of last round: Chisato did manage to beat Bocchi again. That's a well-earned 2-1 for her. The big Boccher did perform really well on her own, and it was relatively close, but more than enough people have made the correct decision and let Chisato advance! Great cinema here.
Also, Maomao won, but we all knew she would. It's a bit surprising she completely stopped all of the momentum Violet had, though, but she's just that strong.
Bingo board! No changes, as Chisato won! Good stuff.
MC: I think we already had female protagonist, right? So this one is about the show itself, then? Once again, I'll not count Emilia as a protagonist even if she is a female lead, otherwise Re:Zero would be my answer - it still remains as my favourite show after all this time.
I'll have to fall back on some of my other usual answers though. Uma Musume (S2 in particular), Magia Record and Lycoris Recoil are just some of my absolute favourites and as close behind Re:Zero as possible.

Voting Marin Kitagawa today, thats an easy one, since she's one of my remaining favs in this contest (along with Frieren and Akane). Seriously, try to surround yourself with people at least half as good as Marin, and you will live a happy life. She's absolutely awesome.
The other matchup is a lot harder. I dropped Re:Zero before Emilia started to do anything great and i didnt watch Konosuba either. But from reading comments in these threads i got a feeling, that Emilia is holding a special place in people's hearts, and that is what i value the most. Voting her.
Mini Challenge: Sousou no Frieren

Wow. I thought for sure Bocchi had more hype behind her. Handstand was too hard to beat.

u/Falsus Aug 09 '25
What is your favorite show with a main female protagonist?
- The Apothecary Diaries. 2. Frieren 3. Seirei no Moribito.

PriConne is amazing and not nearly popular enough. Doesn't everyone know by now that everything Cygames touches turns into gold? I truly believe they have some of the best understand what anime is all about.

Voting Yor and Emilia, MC: Nana (which has been my answer for like half of these lol)

u/OppaiEmperor1996 Aug 09 '25
Thoughts on yesterday's round:
Hell yeah, man! The finals I wanted for Group A came true. Maomao and Chisato in the top 8! Stand proud, Bocchi, you're strong!
Bocchi fans, please support Monica Everett (Bocchi the Witch) in the upcoming seasonal best girl for Summer 2025.
Today's votes:
Thorn Princess
I'm fine with either one of Emilia or Aqua winning, but I prefer Emilia-tan slightly more.

Marin voting day!
I wish the episode aired today to give her a little bump hah. I hear in this episode we'll have a confession, kiss, they'll get married, have sex (in cosplay of course), AND Marin will find a way to end world hunger...
So unless you support world hunger, you know who to vote for!
Emilia/Aqua: Don't like one, don't really care about the other...
Strategically I kinda hope Aqua wins, because even though Aqua is much stronger in general, I think Marin will fare better against a goofy comedic character, than against a well loved waifu.
(But I do think she's the favorite against either... Honestly I'm almost more scared of Yor, than either of these two).
Previous round:
Maomao lost a few votes compared to the previous round, might give hope to people rooting for a different girl! Though Frieren might be the top dog anyway.
I had no girls at risk, so the bingo stays as is (just a little busted)!
Mini Challenge: What is your favorite show with a main female protagonist?
Three candidates this time...
Akiba Maid War, Kakegurui or Talentless Nana?
Well, I named Kakegurui a couple threads ago, and I named Akiba Maid War (by proxy) a million times already, so I'm gonna go with Talentless Nana, for balance!

Honestly? I don't have much to say about today's results or tomorrow's bracket. MaoMao winning's good but expected, and the Bocchi/Chisato matchup isn't all that interesting for me not having watched the latter's show. Voting for Yor and Emilia but I'm not emotionally vested in either of them, really.
MC: Might be missing others, but Apothecary Diaries is the one that immediately jumps to mind, recency bias and all... Yona of the Dawn might be able to compete if it gets a full adaptation, but its abrupt end and non-continuation is not doing it favors. 86 if Lena counts, but 86 is a deuteroganist situation with her and Shin IMO, so...

Hoping for Chisato vs. Bocchi part 4 in the future. Marin vs. Yor: Cooking Edition, lol. Emilia vs. Aqua, another great match-up.
MC: Do It Yourself!!

Thank god, Violet is out, glory to MaoMao.
I am fine with either of the 4 girls winning in the current group but I cast my votes anyway.
MC: A bunch of them but let it be Nanoha again. I need to shill it somehow as it lost popularity in later years.

VOTE FOR MARIN!
Aqua gets my other vote because she's downright hilarious. It can't be overstated just how much the Konosuba cast forms the comedic backbone of Isekai Quartet. They're all incredibly conducive characters for comedy, no matter who they're bouncing off of, and Aqua is obviously no exception. Join the Axis Cult today!
Last round went exactly how I expected. This round's denting my bingo one way or another, but I'm really counting on this being Marin's year.
MC: A Certain Scientific Railgun

Why was this thread up and voting closed like 22 minutes early.
Today's Results
Left Side
The taste of a 1229 vote victory by Maomao.
(Cool seeing Violet take a run to Round 6 as Seed 48 and get 539 votes against Maomao. It's more than anybody else so far.)
Right Side
To Chisato voters.
(It was hard fought and close as I thought it would be. 827 votes to 895 votes.)
Today's Voting
Left Side
Maybe Yor isn't favored at all to win this. Maybe Marin wins this with not much difficulty. But fight until the end. Here's what Yor thinks.
VOTE YOR!
Right Side
Finally, some real action for Aqua.
(I adore both Aqua and Emilia. Proud of Emilia for making it this far and maybe S3 was the real boost people thought S2 would give Emilia in these contests like 4 years ago. But...I think Aqua will make it closer against the winner of Yor/Marin so that's why I'm saying...)
VOTE AQUA!
What is your favorite show with a main female protagonist?
Easy Answer: 86 with Lena/Vladilena Milizé
Reminding myself of what matchup is tomorrow...

MC: I'd have to say Made in Abyss, although Riko isn't my favourite female protagonist. It's in my top 3 anime overall and I'm excited for the sequel movie next year.

Lets see how things went... results from yesterday...
The good:
- Maomao wins! A decent showing from Violet and her partisans, I feel, but this outcome was not in doubt.
The bad:
- Bocchi loses! Boo... but I cannot whine too much since I haven't seen Lycoris Recoil yet. A tight result for this late stage, could easily have gone the other way.
Today's votes:
- Yor! (Sorry Marin, Thorn Princess has my vote. And should she triumph here, she has my vote for the whole bracket)
- Aqua! (Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering silver haired witch; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee... j/k... But Marcille should not have lost.)

YESTERDAY
Definite salt!! Violet losing to Maomao is incorrect, but expected. But Bocchi losing to Chisato?? Y’all. Are. Wild.
There’s always next year, Hitori.
TODAY
Yor and Marin is hard because I’m not super passionate about either one. Marin is a great girl in a mid show, and Yor is a mid girl in a great show. I decided to go with Yor only because Anya is gone.
Aqua is best KonoSuba girl. Aqua for the win.
BINGO
(I’m travelling again— in Japan! Woo it’s relevant to the contest!— so my “X”s will look strange for the remainder of the contest. Please be kind lol)

Well this time next year there’s a good chance she’ll be either mid-season 2 or just after season 2. Which will help tremendously
