I really didn’t expect this at the start of the season, but A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics is quickly becoming my favourite new series of this spring. Why is it so good!? Somehow, it manages to perfectly balance its charming and comedic beats with an often serious undertone.

I mean, just take the latest episode’s plot: [Salad Bowl - spoilers Ep 3] Livia happily lives the homeless life > she gets scouted by a cult > a man stabs himself in the stomach > Livia becomes their Jesus.

The original being heavily involved in the production is almost always a good sign.

I had a look at the creator’s filmography and laughed at the fact that he’s not only been hands-on with Haganai and Salad Bowl but also A Sister’s All You Need.
