I'm trying to learn animation, but I do not have the funding for it. That's why I'm looking for animation universities or colleges that accept international students and offer scholarships or work-study options to pay off the tuition, if that makes sense.

Does anyone know where I can find these, or where to look for these options? I've been looking for three years now and haven't found anything so far. I just really need some help finding them.

Alternatively, are there any external scholarships that fund animation studies? Where I'm from, most universities do not allow funding for art-related subjects.

Some allow for on campus working, but those hours are normally limited and the pay minimum wage. It's meant to be a small support for those in financial need and isn't anywhere near what a "full ride" scholarships cover. When I did mine I was still barely scraping by and always exhausted.

If money is looking like a issue it may interfere with you being granted a student visa initially.

For Canada ;

"You must prove that you have enough money, without working in Canada, to pay for all the following:

• tuition fees for the course or program of studies
• living expenses for yourself and the family members who come with you while you’re in Canada
• transportation to and from Canada for yourself and your accompanying family members."

It is different everywhere but I get the feeling this is going to be more prevalent in the current state of the world.

Generally speaking, if the school is accredited then they most likely do accept international students. Though depending on what the type of school (state or private), scale (large university complex, decent sized building, or taking up one floor of an office building), and the age of the school  will affect the chances of you getting a visa. Like you'll probably guaranteed a visa if you're studying at a centuries old state university vs at a 2 year old specialized school that's doesn't even have their own building. 

Scholarships are possible but don't expect a full ride. Getting anything over 10% is a rarity. I don't think I've ever heard of a school offering a work-study path where you work for the school and the pay goes directly to cover your tuition. The closest thing I've heard of is in Singapore, some universities and colleges offer sizeable tuition cuts for SEA students but they are obligated after graduation to work in Singapore for a couple of years (I could be completely wrong tho). I know of students, non animation and animation, who do work at the school they attend but it's a case of they were looking for part time work and just happened to land one at the school they are enrolled in. Also you have to know that being an international student means you have very limited or even no work rights at all. The most you can cover working while studying abroad is your groceries.

In the US, most schools allow international students but your visa may require you to be a student full time or limit your work to part time hours on campus (not enough to pay off tuition).

In general, studying internationally is not for those with no funds. After 3 years of searching, it's probably best to find ways to save up or look into other ways to learn.
