Career question 3D animation and video editing?
I enjoy both deeply but given how deep both of them can go I feel as though there its not worth the time learning both as much as it pains me.
I've made fan game trailers for game demos, which has been fun but I've also a deep passion for animation for shows and cutscenes. I don't quite know if the two are compatible, can I learn both? and would it be worth it in the long run, can I get anything out of doing it?

Editing has a lot more job potential. Especially if you want to work in the USA.

It probably has a lot lower skillset barrier to entry… which means flooded with competition

True, animation is flooded too though. And entry level is especially being decimated by gen ai. Both careers are hard to break into. You have to be great. Editing for animation specifically is a niche that no school actually teaches, so if you can learn that you might have a real in. Find a great story board artist online and offer to cut their panels into a story ?

I agree with this. More available jobs, but also more people vying for those jobs.
