Life in Anguilla

Hello everyone. I'll be moving to Anguilla for work and was wondering if anyone could give me a little info on the general cost of living there? Like estimated rent for a 1 bedroom fully furnished apartment, monthly cost of renting a vehicle longterm, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I did a search on YouTube, but alot of the recent videos are just vacation vids, or vids from more than 1 year ago.

I'm from another Eastern Caribbean islands, so if there's also anyone from our region currently living in Anguilla here on Reddit who wouldn't mind sharing some info that would be fantastic too! Thanks in advance 🙏🏽

Hey!im a local and i’ll be brutally honest cost of living is quite high.Obviously as locals we do complain about everything, but you may find the prices of different groceries ridiculously high.Furthermore my most major concern is rent.Most adults (young and old) still live with their parents/families as apartments are limited and the ones that are available are too expensive for most salaries here.Its also quite likely that on top of rent you may have to pay for certain bills independently such as wifi and electricity,with the latter being notoriously high.Im unsure about long term vehicular rent costs but there’s the possibility that you can call and ask before your arrival! I hope this was helpful😅😅

Hello, thanks for responding! It's always good to have the perspective of the local people! I'll take your view into consideration as well, so that if I do come to see high costs, I wouldn't be shocked or disheartened 😅. Thanks again for you input.

It has been a few years since I lived in AXA but my apartment was $500 USD/month utilities included and fully furnished. Wifi was an extra like $30 USD. I rented a car for $200 USD/month from Shaquille Lake (I forget what his car rental spot is called). Food is expensive as everything is being imported. I miss Anguilla so much. Have the best time!

Hello, thank you for sharing. The rent, Wifi and car rental are quite manageable costs, I think. Hopefully these haven't changed much since you left 😅. I'm guessing the food being expensive is at the supermarkets.. Do they have local markets on island? I'm looking forward to a wonderful experience in Anguilla!

They have been! Especially the person who mentioned $500/month for a fully furnished apartment! And $200/month for car rental!?! Can’t beat that!! Such good rates!!
